Shani Shingnapur : The Humble Abode of Shani Dev, the Lord of Justice

Shani Shingnapur is perhaps the most popular place for all Shani Dev devotees. Shignapur is situated at a distance of 6 kms from Ghodegaon on Aurangabad-Ahmednagar highway. Its distance from Aurangabad is 84 kms, 75 km from Shirdi and from Ahmednagar it is 35 kms. From Ghodegaon, there is a motorable tar road up to the idol of Shri Shaneshwar and is open in all the seasons.

The temple of Shrinathji at Nathdwara is among the most sacred places of worship for the followers of Lord Krishna. The idol is made of black stone and is said to have been brought here from Mathura in 1669 to protect it from the marauding Moguls under Aurangzeb’s rule.

The temple opens its doors to the public for worship seven times a day for just about half an hour each, and there is a huge crowd always waiting to rush in. Inevitably there is some pushing and jostling and you barely get a minute for darshan before you are pushed out to the exit, just like in a Mumbai local train. This makes the whole experience quite unpleasant, and the temple authorities should take the initiative to organise it in a better way. Some touts promise to get you in through the VIP channels, but they only serve as paid guides, and can do nothing when the push becomes a shove.

बात जुलाई 1998 की है। मैं इंजीनियरी करने के बाद बेकार था । हमारे शहर से एक बस अमरनाथ यात्रा पर जा रही थी। मेरे पिता जी उन दिनो बिमार थे और घर पर ही रहते थे। उन्होनें मुझसे कहा कि सारा दिन आवारा घुमता है, अमरनाथ यात्रा पर ही चला जा। मैं यात्रा पर जाने के लिए तैयार हो गया। आने जाने और खाने-पीने का खर्च घर से मिल रहा था तो कौन मना क रता।

In the mystic alleys of Delhi – the Dargah of Amir Khusrau

I learnt about Amir Khusrau when I was very young.

During my childhood, we used to live in Old Delhi and our house was almost sandwiched between an ancient mosque and a “mazaar” (Mausoleum). At the Mazaar, every Thursday, a few of the good musicians assembled and played devotional music, which I came to know later on was called “Sufiyana Kalaam” and it was performed as homage to the father of “Qawwalis”, Hazrat Amir Khusrau and his Master, Hazrat Nizammudin Aulia.

Since I was fond of music, I found this kind of music very fascinating and depending on the homework prescribed by my school teachers, I used to attend the Thursday “Qawwali” session sometime. Seeing my enthusiasm, one Muslim gentleman, fondly called “Haji ji”, who lived in our neighborhood, told me a few interesting facts about Amir Khusrau.

AMARNATH Yatra starts: Ambala to Udhampur

The Amarnath Yatra was starting on 30th June 2010.We had decided to leave on first week of July and was waiting for opening of online registrations which was due on 5th June. I was preparing but was not sure whether I will be able to go or not because my mother was ill for some period.
Recently she was diagnosed with stones in GB. She was already suffering from heart, asthma and BP. She felt severe pain many times due to stones and her condition was deteriorating day by day.

It is a very beautiful temple with numerous fixed glass windows permitting maximum sunlight thus saving lot of energy. All windows are nicely painted with mythological pictures. Beautiful wall painting, pillars and a huge darshan hall makes this temple very attractive. I really like the wooden doors of the enclosures where deities reside. It is a huge wooden door with beautiful carvings. Every Sunday , a special programme is held in this temple which includes bhajan, Bhagwat Gita course, Aarti and at 1315 hrs lunch Prasadam for everyone.

गढ़वाल घुमक्कड़ी: तपोवन – रुद्रप्रयाग – दिल्ली

रास्ते में हम लोग लोग थोड़ी देर रुद्रप्रयाग में रुके और फिर चल दिए श्रीनगर की ओर. श्रीनगर पहुँचते पहुँचते हमें काफी देर हो चुकी थी और आज रात इससे आगे जाने का कोई साधन नहीं दिख रहा था. कोई जीप या बस मिलने की तो संभावना बिलकुल भी नहीं थी क्योंकि यहाँ हिमाचल की तरह रात को बसें नहीं चलती. ऐसे में हमारे चालक साब ने हमें रात श्रीनगर में ही बिताने का सुझाव दिया और हमें रात गुजारने का एक ठिकाना भी दिखाया. हमने ठिकाना तो देख लिया पर अब किसी का भी यहाँ रुकने का मन नहीं था और सब जल्द से जल्द घर पहुँचना चाहते थे. उत्तरांचल में वैसे तो रात को कोई वाहन नहीं चलते पर सब्ज़ी फल आदि रसद पहुँचाने वाले ट्रकों की आवाजाही रात भर चालू रहती है, सोचा क्यों ना इसे ही आजमाया जाए. आज शायद किस्मत हम पर मेहरबान थी, थोडा पूछ्तात करने पर ही हमें एक ट्रक मिल गया जो हरिद्वार तक जा रहा था. ट्रक चलने में अभी लगभग आधा घंटा बाकी था और सुबह सिर्फ आश्रम में ही भोजन किया था इसलिए एक ढाबे पर जाकर थोड़ी पेट पूजा की गई.

ट्रक पर वापस लौटे तो देखा की चालक के साथ वाली सीट पर पहले ही दो लोग बैठे हुए थे. ऐसे में वहाँ हम तीनों का एक साथ बैठना संभव और सुरक्षित नहीं था. इसलिए दोनों की बुरी हालत देखकर मैं ट्रक के पीछे चला गया जहाँ कुछ अन्य लोग पहले से ही लेटे थे. इस ट्रक के ऊपर एक बरसातीनुमा दरी थी जो शायद सब्जियों को धूल और बारिश से बचाने के लिए डाली गयी थी और नीचे खाली प्लास्टिक के डब्बे रखे हुए थे जिनमे सब्जियाँ रखी जाती हैं. इन्ही हिलते डुलते प्लास्टिक के डब्बों के ऊपर हम सभी मुसाफ़िर लेटे हुए थे. ट्रक चलने पर कुछ समय तो बड़ा मजा आया पर जैसे जैसे रात गहराती गयी और नींद आने लगी तो इन हिलते हुए डब्बों पर सोना बड़ा दुखदायी लग रहा था क्योंकि एक तो ये डब्बे आपस में टकराकर हिल रहे थे और टेढ़े मेढ़े होने की वजह से चुभ भी रहे थे. खैर मेरे लिए तो ये सब रोमांच था, लेकिन रोमांच धीरे धीरे बढ़ने लगा जब इन्द्रदेव अर्धरात्रि में जागे और हम पर जमकर मेहरबान हुए. तिरछी पड़ती हुई मोटी मोटी बारिश की बूँदे हमारे ऊपर एक शॉवर की तरह पड़ रही थी जो एक मंद मंद शीतल रात को एक बर्फ़ीली सी महसूस होने वाली रात में बदलने के लिए काफी थी. ऐसे में ऊपर रखी हुई दरी ने ठण्ड से तो नहीं पर भीगने से तो बचा ही लिया. ठण्ड में किटकिटाते हुए, बिना सोये जैसे तैसे करीब चार बजे के आस पास ट्रक चालक ने हमें हरिद्वार में एक सुनसान मोड़ पर उतार दिया. जितना दर्द मेरे शरीर में उस ट्रक में सवारी करते हुए हुआ उतना पूरी यात्रा कहीं नहीं हुआ, शरीर इतना अकड़ गया था कि ट्रक से बाहर निकलने के लिए भी हिम्मत जुटानी पड़ रही थी. ठण्ड के मारे बुरा हाल था, सुनसान गलियों से होकर गुजरते हुए हम लोग बस स्टेशन की ओर बढ़ने लगे. ऐसे में रास्ते में एक चाय का ठेला देखकर चेहरे पर कुछ ख़ुशी आयी, भाईसाब के हाथ की गर्मागरम चाय और बंद खाकर शरीर में कुछ ऊर्जा आई. फिर तो बस जल्दी जल्दी कदम बढ़ाते हुए हरिद्वार बस स्टेशन पहुँचकर, दिल्ली की बस पकड़ी तो लगभग दस या ग्यारह बजे तक दिल्ली पहुँच कर ही राहत की साँस ली. यात्रा समाप्त!

पैदल घूमते घामते प्रकृति को निहारते हुए सलधार पहुँचे और सबसे पहले वसुधारा की पद यात्रा से सबक लेकर एक दुकान पर रुककर आगे की यात्रा के लिए कुछ चने और मीठी गोलियाँ रख ली. सलधार से भविष्य बद्री तक का रास्ता ज़्यादातर जगह जंगल के बीच से गुज़रते हुए जाता था जहाँ कई जगह राह मे दो रास्ते सामने आ जाते थे जो हमारी दुविधा का कारण बन बैठते. ऐसे मे कई बार या तो स्थानीय लोगो की मदद से और कई बार बस किस्मत के भरोसे ‘अककड़ बक्कड़’ करके हम लोग जैसे तैसे सुभाईं नामक गाँव तक पहुँचे जहाँ से भविष्य बद्री की दूरी लगभग 1 ½ किमी ही रह जाती है.

Chennai – Tirumala Tour

When I first went to Tirupati from Bangalore, we went directly without any darshan booking. I was informed by many that it might take your even 2 days to get a darshan. One of my colleagues has suggested me to go to Vijaya Bank at Tirumala and you can buy a seva ticket. This seva ticket is good if you are too many in numbers. First time we had purchased Sahastra Deepalankarana Seva and it cost us Rs 2000/-. But we were 6 persons therefore somewhere around approx. 300/- per person (in a way quite reasonable) .
