Experiencing the Heart of India

By

Hey there. I don’t know where to start. India has opened my eyes to a whole new culture I have never before seen. I’ve been born and brought up in Auckland, New Zealand, and often visit my home city Pune. However, this time, my relatives and I decided to visit the heart of Madhya Pradesh to get a historically and culturally rich experience. After having an initial debate on which places to go to, we came to the official conclusion of touring Khajuraho, Orchha and Gwalior.

Walking tour of the bicycle capital of Europe – Amsterdam

By

It was around evening and we were exploring Amsterdam and enjoying its beautiful canal side. Houses around canal started to get lit from inside. The crimson sun was getting overwhelmed by dark clouds on the azure blue canvas with canal houses in foreground. Its rays were scattered all over the canal waters. It was a picture-perfect scene – very soothing and very relaxing. We tried to click what our eyes were seeing, but in vain.

Solo Travel, Himachal Tribal Circuit – Kinnaur Valley

By

After crossing Simla and its suburbs, the lush green mountains and apple orchards in the valleys were a treat for the eyes. We had a small stop over at Theog. Rain drenched Theog looked all the more beautiful during sunset. I had never been beyond Theog before, so I had a fascinating image of Narkanda, a winter sport hill station of Himachal Pradesh, in my mind. But frankly, seeing Narkanda for the first time was an anti-climax. It is a small non-descript town, with hardly any tourists during the monsoon season. After Narkanda, it was a steep downhill journey with never ending zigzag turns and U-turns.

Just a short distance from Nainital – where Delhiites flock to during summer months – it boasts of no mall road or glitzy hotels but is a tiny hamlet within the folds of Kumaon hills with a few hotels now coming up. Drive up 15 km from Naini lake, go past snow-view point, you’ll reach this cosy little place without pretentions.

Yeh Kashmir hain

By

We planned it long ago, but somehow, it was not happening. The news, the climate, its like some invisible barrier. Then one day somebody got killed, people were on the streets, the afternoon sun might have seen some colours in the black and white panorama. I am not a political man, nor a magician…I just wanted to see the city, one last time.

Delhi – Patna road review

By

Once you are out of Agra, the road gets a little better and traffic reduces. Press the pedal and hit Firozabad. This is the first city (after Agra) where you would start to feel the Mughal Era. Some of the old buildings could be still seen, the city is known for its bangles and glass work. There are these big tempting bangles showrooms which you need to pass quickly else a female fellow traveler’s urge makes you stop.

Visit to Lansdowne – A journey unforgettable

I don’t know why but it stuck to me like super glue and the first thing on reaching office was to google Lansdowne. Within 10 minutes I had decided that our weekend destination would be Lansdowne and not Rishikesh as they are at the same distance from Delhi.
