A memorable trip on bike to rediscover myself in the foothills of Himalayas – Part I

Life is full of joy and sorrow, happiness and disappointments, ups and down and Life can also throw unexpected surprises – I was taught in my school and I am also explaining the meaning to my son now. But, at that point of time those are only “THE WORDS” for me and nothing else. Remember ‘3 Idiots’ – “Jab dost fail ho to dukh hota hai, lekin jab dost top kare to aur bhi dukh hota hai”

What else would you do in my place, when the requester is the CEO of your Company? Do you have any other option? I know some who might still have some other options, but fortunately or unfortunately, I am not so impulsive in nature and the other option to fly – was an unthinkable proposition for me that time.

I have a great respect for Mr. Ram S. Ramasundar, the then CEO of Electrolux India, who is like a God Father for me, I had no other option but to say “Yes Sir, I will”.

It was already 11 in the morning and I had an i-ticket. I asked permission to go to the counter to cancel the ticket, to get 50% refund for the cancellation. Who says money doesn’t matter.

“Do one thing, prepare a voucher – it will be reimbursed fully from accounts, I will approve the same.” So, one of my worry had been taken care of…but what about the disappointments.

From a very beautiful morning, all of a sudden it became one of the worst day for me. With a heavy heart, I called up home to inform that I won’t be able to come. Durga Puja was over by the time I hang up the phone for me, as well as for them, even before the first sound of Dhak.

Rewalsar – A sacred confluence of multi religions

When you come to Rewalsar, you cannot be untouched by the spiritual vibrations being reflected in every activity in this sacred land, be it the chirpings of the birds, soulful chantings from the monastery or temple or Gurubani from the Gurudwara, people feeding hungry souls in the lake, pondering monkeys over the trees, Buddhist prayer flags swirling in the air, swimming ducks in the lake, meditating and contemplating holy people on bank of the lake, the green and serene water of the lake, monks running the prayer-wheels, beautiful surrounding hills, finely ornated colourful monasteries with young monks playing around, burning oil lamps, ringing bells, cows and dogs resting near the lake, swaying trees, smiling flowers etc, whatever passes through your eyes gives you a sort of positive vibrations.

इसके बाद हम प्रकर्ति का अजूबा घूचूपानी या रोबर्स केव की और चल पड़े |हमारे गाइड और ऑटो चालक ने बताया जब आप अंदर जाओगे तो ऐसा लगेगा की आप वात्तानुकुलित सुरंग मे चल रहे है |घूचूपानी, देहरादून से 8 किलोमीटर दूर राजपुर रोड पर अनारवाला गांव से 1 किलोमीटर की पैदल दूरी पर सिथत है |यह एक प्राकर्तिक गुफा है जिसमे लगभग आधा किलोमीटर अंदर तक आप जा सकते है|गुफा के अंदर पानी गुप्त स्रोतों से बह रहा है |यंहा टिकेट ले कर हम अंदर परवेश कर गये ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे डिस्कवरी चैनल के किसी प्रोग्राम में शामिल हो गये है |कंही सुंदर झरना है तो कंही ऊपर से गुफा की दीवार मे से पानी की बोछार हो रही है |कभी आप कमर तक पानी मे डूब जाते है तो अगले ही पल पानी एकदम गायब हो जाता है|मेरे नटखट पुत्र ने इस जगह को नाम दिया गुपचुप पानी |

Rejuvenating Trip to Naukuchiatal

After a good stroll, my hunger meter was on & I enjoyed a nice buffet spread at restaurant. We went again for best spot near lake side & enjoyed the peace around the place. One shikara was approaching us & he offered us to take ride in lake. He also offered us cab service for local sightseeing. We decided to visit Sattal which was about 15-20 kms from our place. After taking a nap, we were ready to go on sightseeing, we preferred to took cab and rely on local info.

While on way to Sattal, we also explored Naldamiyanti Tal & Garuda Tal.The drive was very sceneric and Garuda tal was worth going. it was a perfect place to have a picnic or just being in lap of nature. Sattal was little commercialsed & we just spent ½ hr there.

जम्मू से श्रीनगर राजमार्ग पर एक अविस्मरणीय यात्रा

ऐसे ही एक विलक्षण और ऐतिहासिक ट्रैफिक जाम में पंकज और मैं कार से उतरे और काफी आगे तक जाकर जायज़ा लिया कि करीब कितने किलोमीटर लंबा जाम है। यातायात पुलिस के सिपाहियों को जाम खुलवाने के कुछ गुरुमंत्र भी दिये क्योंकि सहारनपुर वाले भी जाम लगाने के विशेषज्ञ माने जाते हैं। हम अपनी कार से लगभग १ किलोमीटर आगे पहुंच चुके थे जहां गाड़ियां फंसी खड़ी थीं और जाम का कारण बनी हुई थीं। आगे-पीछे कर – कर के उन तीनों गाड़ियों को इस स्थिति में लाया गया कि शेष गाड़ियां निकल सकें। वाहन धीरे – धीरे आगे सरकने लगे और हम अपनी टैक्सी की इंतज़ार में वहीं खड़े हो गये। सैंकड़ों गाड़ियों के बाद कहीं जाकर हमें अपनी सफेद फोर्ड आती दिखाई दी वरना हमें तो यह शक होने लगा था कि कहीं बिना हमें लिये ही गाड़ी आगे न चली गई हो। ड्राइवर ने गाड़ी धीमी की और हमें इशारा किया कि हम फटाफट बैठ जायें क्योंकि गाड़ी रोकी नहीं जा सकती। जैसे धोबी उचक कर गधे पर बैठता है, हम कार के दरवाज़े खोल कर उचक कर अपनी अपनी सीटों पर विराजमान हो गये। पांच सात मिनट में ही पंकज का दर्द में डूबा हुआ स्वर उभरा! “मैं तो लुट गया, बरबाद हो गया।“ मुझे बड़ा आश्चर्य हुआ क्योंकि पंकज एक मिनट के लिये भी मेरी दृष्टि से ओझल नहीं हुआ था तो फिर ऐसा क्या हुआ कि वह लुट भी गया और मुझे खबर तक न हुई। रास्ते में ऐसा कोई सुदर्शन चेहरा भी नज़र नहीं आया था, जिसे देख कर पंकज पर इस प्रकार की प्रतिक्रिया होती। गर्दन घुमा कर पीछे देखा तो पंकज भाई आंखों में ढेर सारा दर्द लिये शून्य में ताक रहे थे। उनकी पत्नी चीनू ने कुरेदा कि क्या होगया, बताइये तो सही तो बोला,

A trip to Dehradun

That was the end of day, as no other place could be visited, it was 0930 pm. We started our local sight seeing on the next day. Trip started at 1000 am, starting towards Robber’s cave nice place the climate which was on previous day hot, now was cloudy and cooled down a bit, we all enjoyed the spectacular view of the cave kids enjoyed the entrance and we all enjoyed the cold water. It was also drizzling when we came out of the cave. The next destination was towards shastradhara, we enjoyed the view but could not found the namely view. Bit disappointed, only could locate the water-park type theme. The maintenance of a tourist spot was not seen as it should be, there is no parking facility, no management, but parking ticket is high.

अमरकंटक से निकलती नर्मदा नदी जब भेड़ाघाट तक आती है तो उसका यौवन अपने उफान पर होता है। हालांकि ना ही ये किसी किस्म के आक्रोश की गर्जन है और ना ही किसी दर्प का प्रर्दशन, लेकिन एक स्वाभाविक आवेग जब क्रीड़ा करने पर उतारु हो तो उसका प्रतिलक्षण शायद इतना ही विहंगम होगा। जी हां धुआंधार प्रपात को भारत के नियाग्रा प्रपात की संज्ञा दी जाती है और इसका अहसास इस जगह पर आकर ही किया जा सकता है। नर्मदा की लहरों का शोर, उस तेज बहाव के चट्टानों पर टकराने से उठती धुंध और उसकी वजह से बनता एक रहस्मयी आवरण, पल भर में ही आपको सम्मोहित कर देगा।

I went to check whether they washed the car or not, as promised yesterday. The outer body of the car looks like we just finished, sorry ‘Won’ the cross-country rally…several layers of dust all around the body and required a considerable amount of time and efforts to bring it back to its’ original colour. The security guard was of immense help and cleaned the car within next half an hour.

मसरुर – mini Ellora of Himachal

Masroor temple complex is about 22 Kms from Ranitaal. RaniTal is a Railway Station for Jwalamukhi. If going to Dharmshala then Ranital comes in way a few Kilometers before Kangra. From RaniTaal one has to take direction of Nagrota Suriyan and on this road one can see directions for Masroor.

Road trip to Naukuchiatal and Mukteshwar

We explored the property the first day and was happy to see that apart from a TT table and carrom board, the resort has a gym and two pool tables. My husband and son played a few games of TT and carrom, while i enjoyed the hammock in the garden with my book. Then as the sun set, it was mystical seeing the colour of the waters change. The next morning we decided to take a boat ride. Then, following a good breakfast we decided to take a walk around the lake and explore the small hamlet. The walk is around 3.5 km and will take barely an hour at a slow pace. You will meet smiling locals and few tourists, especially if you take this walk before 10am. The tourists generally don’t stay at Naukuchiatal but make a day trip and descend on the sleepy hamlet after 11 and move out by 5.

We took a rickshaw and then walked for 5 minutes to reach Dasaswamedh Ghat. The Sandhya Aarati took our breathe away. We have never seen such a live performance – they were at their artistic best. Finally around 8 p.m., the journey took its toll and my son couldn’t stand anymore and we decided to return to the hotel, with a promise to come back again and spend a few days to explore the city once again.
