इन्दौर पहुंच गये हम!

खाना खाने के बाद मैने तो लंबी तान ली और ये तीनों महिलाएं न जाने क्या – क्या गपशप करती रहीं। राजा की मंडी (आगरा) स्टेशन आया तो अपने घुमक्कड़ भाई रितेश गुप्ता की याद आई। उनसे सच्ची-मुच्ची वाली मुलाकात तो आज तक नहीं हो पाई पर फेसबुक पर गप-शप अक्सर ही होती रहती है। मैने उनको इस ट्रेन से जाने के बारे में सूचना नहीं दी हुई थी पर फिर भी न जाने किस आशा में, प्लेटफार्म पर उतरा, कुछ पल चहल-कदमी की और फिर वापिस ट्रेन में आ बैठा। बाहर अंधेरा होने लगा था और खिड़की से कुछ दिखाई नहीं दे रहा था, अतः सामने वालों पर ही ध्यान केन्द्रित किया। सोचा, बच्चों को कुछ ज्ञान की बातें बताई जायें। घुमक्कड़ का ज़िक्र शुरु कर दिया और बताया कि अगर उन्होंने वह वेबसाइट नहीं देखी तो समझो ज़िन्दगी में कुछ नहीं देखा। वहीं बैठे – बैठे रितेश, मनु, जाट देवता, डी.एल. अमितव, नन्दन, मुकेश-कविता भालसे, प्रवीण वाधवा आदि-आदि सब का परिचय दे डाला। रेलवे को भी कोसा कि लैपटॉप नहीं चल पा रहा है, वरना उनको घुमक्कड़ साइट भी दिखा डालता।

रात हुई, खाना खाया, कुछ देर किताब पढ़ी, फिर सामान को ठीक से लॉक करके और कैमरे वाले बैग को अपनी छाती से लगा कर सो गया। ग्वालियर में उतर कर अंधेरे में अपने मोबाइल से एक-दो फोटो खींचने का भी प्रयत्न किया पर कुछ बात कुछ बनी नहीं। सुबह पांच बजे आंख खुली और ट्रेन लगभग 7 बजे इन्दौर स्टेशन पर आ पहुंची।

Visit to BADRINATH and village MANA

We were totally muddled what to do to see the long queue .We were doubtful that whether we would be able to visit the temple the same day but to our surprise unlike other temples our turn came within one hour as there one can afford to do hasty darshan because of too much of rush.The main entrance gate of the Badrnath is very colourful and known as “Singhdwar.”

Badrinath was originally established as a pilgrimage site by Adi Shankara in the ninth century. It is said that Shankara discovered the image of Badrinarayan in the Alaknanda River and enshrined it in a cave near the Tapt Kund (Hot Spring). Later the King of Garhwal moved that image to the present temple. Since then the temple has undergone several major renovations by many people.

Qila Rai Pithora – the First City of Delhi

Delhi’s history goes back possibly to the times of the old village of Indrapat in and around Purana Qila. Other villages of that time were Sonepat, Panipat, Baghpat and Tilpat. Indrapat is the site of Indraprastha, the mythological capital of Pandavas believed to be buried in the area where Humayun built Purana Qila.

Scenic beauty on the way to Badrinath

On the way back from Kedarnath we had our light breakfast and started our downwards journey. At slow pace we covered 3-4 kms but after sometime my elder daughter started complaining of leg pain , I advised her to use either pony or kandi for rest of the distance but she did not like the idea and continued her journey.

While coming back we tried shortcuts in between but it is advisable not to use if kids are with you.As sometimes short cuts are really very risky too. We experienced that downward journey is more painful than climbing up. Around 12 o’clock we reached Rambara (Midway) , we had our traditional lunch , rice & dal and relaxed ourselves for a while and again proceeded further for Gaurikund.

Mahabalipuram – Chennai Weekend Gateway

This temple is considered in a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was built in 7^th century. It is one of the oldest South Indian temples built in Dravidian style. The complex spreads out over a square platform, and comprises three temples, of which two are east and west facing Shiva temples, and the third a Vishnu shrine in the center. The temple has vast open are at the western side. Rows of Nandi form the perimeter wall for this temple. The Shore temple is the lone survivor out of seven such temples , the rest having fallen to the ravages of sea.

The Great Himachal Circuit – Part 3 : Kalpa to Tabo

Time to get up early in the morning to get a view of the awesome Himalayas from the balcony. It was so cloudy all around at 6AM, that hardly anything was visible. With a cup of tea, we started waiting for the fog and cloud to clear up. After that it was cloud moving around with occasional clearances of the mountains. Believe me, its one of the most awesome views as the clouds play around with the kailash range. And with the sun occasionally coming out in between the clouds with clear lights, another lovely worth seeing site.

While we were able to see the Kinnaur kailash easily, we were not able to spot the shiv ling. The hotel staff said, because of the fog we might not be able to view it. It was hidden behind the clouds. But then suddenly, one of the hotel staff said, its visible now. As we saw, the 69 ft height shiv ling was clear visible from that distance not more than 1 inch. But a very beautiful view.

Kedarnath

Kedarnath can be accessed by foot , mule , palki or kandi. It could be visited by Helicopter too which is available from Agastyamuni or Phata.

Those who visited Kedarnath by Helicopter , they miss the natural beauty of the valley and the trekking. They miss the opportunity of visiting Gauri kund too.

The journey of first one km was terribly irritating because the way was overcrowded and too much stinking because of the horses. Couple of kms away we found it ok. After sometime we started feeling tired but kept on walking slowly and taking rest in every 200-300 meters for couple of seconds to regain the energy.

On the way to Kedarnath

Srinagar received its name from Sri Yantra, a mythical giant rock, so evil that whoever set their eyes on it would immediately die. The rock was believed to have taken as many as thousand lives before Adi Shankaracharya, in the 8th century AD, as a part of an undertaking aimed to rejuvenate the Hindu religion across India, visited Srinagar and turned the Sri Yantra upside down and hurled it into the nearby river Alaknanda. To this day, this rock is believed to be lying docile in the underbelly of the river. That area is now known as Sri Yantra Tapu.

On the way to Srinagar we saw a broken bridge which was built recently across Alaknanda and damaged too during construction. Six labourers die during that time thereafter the construction was not restarted.
We all were enjoying our journey in our own ways as some were busy in clicking pictures of the natural beauty of Uttrakhand , some were sleeping as we got up early in the morning & kids were busy in singing and playing cards.

After 35 kms from Srinagar we reached Rudarprayag , named after Shiva (Rudra). Here Alaknanda river from Badrinath and Madakani river from Kedarnath meet.

From Rudarprayag the road separated for Kedarnath & Badrinath, left road goes to Kedarnath & right one towards Badrinath.

Shergarh – Sixth City of Delhi

Before entering the main gate, get off at Mathura Road and enter the lake area. You can take the kids out boating. But you have more serious things to do. You walk towards the looming Talaaqi Gate. This gate like the others is also capped with chattris and protected with bastions. Walk along the ramparts on the right with the rim of the lake on your right. Once the moat probably ran around the fort but now is limited to the western flank. Just make some noise walking so that you do not startle love birds cooing in the bushes.
Shergarh is a sprawling compound bound by walls on all sides. There are three gates: The Western Gate for entering is called Bada Darwaza flanked with mighty bastions, Northern Gate is called the Talaaqi Darwaza or the Forbidden Gate and the Southern Gate is called Humayun Gate. Humayun Gate is the signature symbol of Purana Qila with the two ubiquitous pavilions on top. At the foot is an amphitheatre where the Light and Sound show about Seven Cities of Delhi is played out in the evenings.

Cochin – Sightseeing by cruise and Cherai Beach

As weather was hot, this ride was giving us good relief from heat. For first 15-20 minutes it was just like a normal cruise experience similar to Mumbai Gateway of India cruise ride or cruise ride at Rameswaram. But we were happy as kids were enjoying this ride with lots of space to sit as well as to run inside the boat and to see sparkling water.On our way we got to see many boats like country type, Russian yacht etc.

Although, it was a pleasant journey but I didn’t find it worth or it’s not value for money. Boat sailor but surely took us at the midst of sea and we saw numbers of Dolphin fish. Watching Kochi Harbour, Bolgatty island resort and Dolphin were good experience. Chinese Fishing net is an icon for Kochi but I didn’t find anything interesting watching that. The total time we spent here was 02 hours and we found it tiring. We came back to Marine Drive. Marine drive is a nice hangout place with many eatery joints.We had some light lunch and icecreams and came back to our friends place at 1730 hrs.

A trip to Mewar, Raj – Jaipur Once again

painting section: Second floor of this magnificent museum consisted of some rare books on display and a series of Raagmala paintings on display.These paintings are based upon different Ragas and Raginis of Indian classical music system. Different types of Raagmala series have been painted in different parts. Pahari style, Deccan style, Rajputana style. Each Raga is personified by a specific color, mood , time of its singing is mentioned on the painting and a story is told about a Nayak and a Nayika. I had read about tese paintings but was seeing these for the first time. I also had the privilege to see the paintings based upon stories from Hitopdesha and Panchtantra. Just beautiful. Another surprise for me was the the presence of classic book JANGNAMA by Shah Muhammad(original).

Overall we spent about 2 hours in the museum and were tired. The big walls of this museum are adorned by the life like portraits of erstwhile kings of Jaipur state. Now was the time to have some snacks for the evening and visit the famous zoo of Jaipur, if not so big then not too small also. Dear Pavani’s desire was to have a look at the lion and the tiger which was duly fulfilled here.

THE ZOO: The desire was of Pavani was duly fulfilled as the first cage in the zoo was that of Leopard and next to it lay the cage of Tiger (wish double fulfilled).

A trip to Mewar, Raj – Pushkar and Jaipur

A small and picterusque town famous for one and onky temple of Brahma Ji, the town is also famous for the foreigners coming to the time to learn Yoga and instrumental music in the streets of Pushkar and numerous cafes adorning the streets. I can vouch for only temple perhaps my main motive was that only so I did,nt bother to look out for the guests from abroad or cafes. After inquiring my way to the temple of Brahma Ji, I straight away drove in that direction until I reached the place where Ghats were located. I thought may be temple is located in the centre of the sarovar there. So we all went towards the Ghat area and the thing that I wanted to avoid at all costs followed us , hounding by various priests(pandas to have one or other form of puja for salvation of soul. As a person I m dead against these things as it seems to me more as an economic activity of these priests, nothing more(my personal opinion). Many persons were involved there in one or other ceremonies per their beliefs. But I did,nt want to listen to these priests about all this. One priest said “Unless you take bath in these Ghats and perform a puja your visit to Brahma temple would be incomplete” Why so? I just asked myself. After enquiring again about the temple from a family , we came to know that it was just on the next end of the street. I just pulled my family members from there hearing this. While walking towards the temple, in one corner , there was a small shop(PANDIT JI KI LASSI). Iski story baad mein bataoonga.
