Khirsu – A serene and pristine hamlet in Garhwal, Uttarakhand

Khirsu is also situated at 1700 m but much cooler than Lansdowne because the entire hamlet is surrounded by high hills and dense forest bearing tall pine, deodar & oak. It is perhaps one of the most pristine places in Uttrakhand. Less visited hence no touristy activities. No mall road, no shopping or eating joints and no spirit shop. Yet, very impressive, naturally wild and ideal for a laid back holiday in divine serenity.

Room Tips:

Try to take Mussorie view rooms. There is a beautiful view of green Mussorie hills from there. Also, there is big empty ground on this side, with a beautiful nursery next to it. View on this side is very pleasant.

The rooms on the other side has a view of rooftop of nearby houses.

I rate this hotel at 4.5 on a scale of 5. Bit heavy on the pocket but 1 of the very few hotels in Dehradun which matches this standard of hospitality.

Hastily, I tried to book some GMVN asset but in vain, with no rooms in either of the two properties available. We therefore, decided to reach early & search for alternate options. Being familiar with the roads & alternate routes, we soon reached at Monty’s Dhaba at Miranpur via Mawana as early as 9 am for a stopover & filling our tummy. It is one of the finest & elaborate resort kind of restaurant with plenty of space and a well-built dining area. The road so far is good enough to drive with ease in early hours.

Thiksey and Hemis Monastery and The School of 3 idiots!

The great Indian Films! They make places a popular tourist spot out of nowhere!! Amir Khan Starrer “3 idiots” is one of such Indian Boolywood movie. Some parts of the film were shot at Pangaong Lake, Ladakh and some in a school near Leh named “The Druk White Lotus School”. The school is located 15 km from Leh town on the Leh-Manali highway in the village Shey. This school made a popular tourist spot after the movie and damage of its building by cloudburst that struck Leh on August 2010. The actor Amir Khan visited the school after the incident and helped to raise funds for rebuilding of the school.

After the movie, the school receives a large number of visitor everyday and a person has been deployed by the school management for guiding the visitors. It has a visitor centre from where you need to take permission and the visiting time is 8AM to 1PM and 2PM to PM.

रॉक गार्डन एक अद्भुत कृति है जहाँ waste चीजों से इतने सारी और बहुत ही सुन्दर आकृतिया बनी हुई हैँ . श्री नेक चंद जी द्वारा बनाया गया ये गार्डन ४० एकड़ में फैला हुआ है। यहां ज्यादा तर आकृतियां वेस्ट बोतल, प्लेट, सिरेमिक टाइल्स इत्यादि से बनी हैं। इसके अलावा यहां एक मानव निर्मित झरना भी है।
सुखना झील तो चंडीगढ़ की सुंदरता को और भी बढ़ा देती है। झील के दूसरी तरफ दिखती शिवालिक पहाड़िया इसकी खूबसूरती में चार चाँद लगाती हैं। यहाँ पहुँच कर हमने बेटे को टॉय ट्रैन में घुमाया। झील में बोटिंग का प्रोग्राम बना ही रहे थे कि झमाझम बारिश शुरू हो गयी। एक बार शुरू हुई तो फिर रुकने का नाम ही नहीं लिया। वहां घूमने आये सभी लोग शेड के नीचे ही खड़े रहे और उस मौसम का आनंद लेते रहे।

Even in cloudy atmosphere the white marbled temple was glowing. Like other Jain temples it was also clean. No dirt, no flower or leaf residues were visible.
