Getaway to Fort Kesroli, Alwar

It was a pleasant Saturday Morning and we were eagerly waiting for our trip to begin. The plan was to start from Delhi at 9 am and reach Fort Kesroli by 1 pm. With all our bags packed (majorly with stuff to munch on our way to Alwar…), we finally left at about 9. It was a breeze to drive through the Gurgaon Toll that day… No major Traffic Jams… No blaring horns. I so wish commuting to office everyday would have been that easy ☹

Anyhow, this was just a quick break we wanted from our mundane corporate life and therefore even a day of relaxation sounded awesome. Since a long time we had plans of going somewhere near Delhi (but not the hills). Jaipur was out of question as we had been there numerous times. After a bit of quick search we were keen on Fort Kesroli, Alwar. It was a good idea to stay at a heritage property for a change and since Fort Neemrana had no availability, Fort Kesroli it was. The 14th century Hill-Fort in Kesroli is the oldest heritage hotel in India.

We used the GPS System to reach Fort Kesroli. The roads were okayish… At some places we were surrounded by never ending group of cows. Nevertheless, the drive was fun and we reached the resort at about 12:15pm. The check-in process was quite smooth and we were greeted with a variety of refreshing Non Alcoholic beverages. The drink refreshed our tired bodies. We were also informed about the Cultural night which awaited all the guests that evening. We checked into our rooms and very quickly explored the resort.

I liked the swimming pool as it looked extremely clean. We wanted to relax for some time and therefore had Lunch Buffet (It was yummyyyy) and then crashed. After a good sleep, we felt better.
In the evening, we went near the Pool and sat there for some time. Later in the evening there was a performance – consisting of Folk songs and dances.

There is a courtyard next to the Pool where these performances are held so you can simply be seated near the Pool and enjoy these performances. The show was amazing and we had a good time. Post the performances, we had our Dinner. It was delicious- especially the Desserts. I did not want to get back to the Room since it was really pleasant outside so decided to sit near the pool and enjoy for some more time.

I loved the peaceful moonlit night, the pool was looking all the more beautiful and water looked more of green than blue at that point of time ☺ With our feet dipped in the pool, we chatted for a good long time and realized it was almost 12 am. Although not sleepy still we decided to retire to our Rooms and called it a day!

Next morning we woke up to the chirping of birds. I freshened up – asked for Morning Tea and sat right outside my room sipping my cup of Masala Chai! After quickly freshening up we decided to walk around the property and explore it. There are cute chairs and tables which you will find placed in different areas of the hotel which add altogether a different kind of charm to the Fort.

I sat at the terrace to spend some moments with nature. The sunny morning with beautiful fields was looking so fresh. There are a whole lot of birds especially Parrots in that area. I walked about lazily and took some pictures. The best part (maybe worse for some!) about this place is that there are no Televisions except in one common room where you can go and watch TV, play some indoor games etc.

Incase you are one of those wanting to explore the nearby places you can ask for bicycles and ride through the mustard fields nearby. I asked for a bicycle but it seemed that there was already a long queue for people wanting to ride one. I ditched the plan and decided to relax in the common room. The room was a big one with Mirrors, books, carrom board, Television kept with cute wooden chairs, tables and also mattresses with lots of pillows. Here are a few pictures:

We watched TV for few minutes and played Carom. After some time we decided to head towards dining area for Breakfast since we had to check out as well. It was a hearty breakfast and filled our tummies to the brim. One last look at the pool and off we went to our rooms, packed our bags and checked out from the hotel. The check-out process was a smooth one as well.

The drive back to Delhi was good too as we did not experience much traffic. It was a refresher from our monotonous schedule and I felt quite rejuvenated after this short trip to Fort Kesroli.
