उज्जैन यात्रा

अपने प्रसाद पुष्प जल को आरती के समय अपने पास ही रखे कई बार लोग पंडित और पुलिस वालो के कहने पे बहार ही चदा देते है ! हमसे भी यही गलती हुई थी लेकिन आप लोगो को सचेत करना जरुरी समझता हु !

बाबा के दर्शन करने के लिए सिर्फ २-३ मिनिट का समय मिलता है ! बाबा के दर्शन के बाद आप मंदिर के अन्दर ही बने कई और मंदिरों के दर्शन अवस्य करे ! और जिस प्रकार वैष्णु माता के लंगर में प्रसाद मिलता है उसी प्रकार महाकाल के मंदिर में भी प्रसाद के लिए एक टोकन मंदिर के अन्दर ही मिलता है एक सदस्य को सिर्फ एक टोकन ,बाबा का प्रसाद इतना स्वादिस्ट और लाजवाब होता है की बस पूछिए ही मत ! और वयवस्था तो इतनी शानदार है की तारीफे काबिल है टोकन ११ बजे से रात ८ बजे तक ही मिलता है प्रसाद में कभी रोटी ,कढी,चावल,सब्जी, मीठे चावल आदि !

मैं आप लोगो से स्पेसल आग्रह करना चाहूँगा की एक बार बाबा का प्रसाद अवस्य ग्रहण करे !

बाबा के दर्शन के बाद हम लोगो ने उज्जैन के दर्शनीय स्थलों को देखने का फैसला किया उसके लिए यहाँ कई साधन है जैसे की ऑटो , बस, वाहिनी, वेन आदि अपनी सुविधा के हिसाब से आप इनमे से कोई एक बुक कर सकते है ऑटो आपको ३०० रुपे में बुक हो जायेगा और वाहिनी और वन तक़रीबन ७०० रुपे लेंगे और बस ५० पर सवारी|

Mt. Abu – Sunset Point – Nakki Lake

सूर्यास्त होगया तो मैने कहा कि चलो, खेल खतम, पैसा हज़म ! अब यहां से पैदल ही नीचे चलेंगे। लुढ़कते – लुढ़कते हम नीचे पहुंचे और टैक्सी में बैठ कर नक्की लेक की ओर चल दिये। इससे पहले मैं 2003 और 2005 में भी माउंट आबू गया था। वर्ष जून 2003 में तो नक्की लेक सूखी हुई मिली थी और उसमें हज़ारों मज़दूर पुरुष और महिलाएं तसले सिर पर लिये हुए घूम रहे थे। (उस समय की खींची हुई एक फोटो भी सौभाग्य से मिल गयी है जो अपने पाठकों के सौभाग्य के लिये संलग्न किये दे रहा हूं ।) परन्तु सौभाग्य से इस बार नक्की में भरपूर पानी था और नावों में लोग सवारी कर रहे थे। हमने भी एक नाव ले ली जिसे पैडल बोट कहते हैं । बेचारे दो पुरुष पैडल मारते हुए नाव को आगे बढ़ाते हैं और पीछे दो बीवियां आराम से झील का नज़ारा देखती हुई चलती हैं। संभवतः एक घंटे तक हम नक्की में यूं ही पैडल मारते घूमते रहे। इस नक्की लेक के बारे में बहुत प्रचलित किंवदंती, जो अक्सर पढ़ने को मिलती है वह ये है कि देवताओं ने एक खूंखार राक्षस से बचने के लिये नख से धरती में झील बना डाली थी । यही नहीं, नक्की झील को लेकर एक और रोमांटिक कहानी रसिया बालम की भी चली आ रही है जिसने एक राजकुमारी से विवाह की लालसा में एक रात में ही आधा किलोमीटर लंबी और चौथाई किमी चौड़ी और २०-३० फीट गहरी झील खोद डाली थी। हे भगवान, कैसे – कैसे राजा होते थे उस जमाने में! मुनादी करा दी कि जो कोई एक रात में नक्की झील खोद देगा, उससे अपनी बिटिया का ब्याह रचा दूंगा ! सौभाग्य से इस झील को खोदने के बाद भी रसिया बालम फिर भी कुंवारा ही रहा क्योंकि राजा की घोषणा को रानी ने वीटो कर दिया। राजा को रानी से डांट पड़ी सो अलग!

नक्की झील माउंट आबू के हृदय स्थल में स्थित है और यहां का प्रमुखतम आकर्षण है। माउंट आबू के बाज़ार मुख्यतः नक्की झील के आस-पास ही केन्द्रित हैं। बात सही भी है, जब सारे टूरिस्ट नक्की पर ही आने हैं तो दुकान कहीं और खोलने का क्या लाभ? एक और बड़ी विशेष जानकारी जो विकीपीडिया से प्राप्त हुई है, वह ये कि 12 फरवरी 1948 को यहां पर राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी की अस्थियां विसर्जित की गई थीं और गांधी घाट का निर्माण किया गया था। पर मुझे याद नहीं पड़ता कि हमने नक्की झील पर कहीं गांधी घाट के दर्शन किये हों! सॉरी बापू ! अगली बार जायेंगे तो ऐसी गलती पुनः नहीं होगी! नक्की झील के आस-पास के एक रेस्टोरेंट में भोजन लेकर (कहां, ये याद नहीं ! भोजन कैसा था, ये तो कतई याद नहीं)। हम लोग वापिस ज्ञान सरोवर में आ पहुंचे और अपने – अपने कमरों में नींद के आगोश में समा गये। (किसी इंसान के आगोश में समाने की तो वहां अनुमति भी नहीं थी !)

The stupas and monasteries provided the architectural models for the more famous Buddhist shrines in the rest of the world like the famous Borobodur in Indonesia. The Buddhist phase lasted for nearly a thousand years till the rise of Shaivism in the 7th century CE obliterated Buddhism from this region. It is sad that while these places attract visitors from all over the Buddhist world, Indians are not aware of the existence of these places.In this series, I am retracing the footsteps of those distant ancestors of mine.

गढ़वाल घुमक्कड़ी: जोशीमठ – तपोवन – बाबा आश्रम

पैदल घूमते घामते प्रकृति को निहारते हुए सलधार पहुँचे और सबसे पहले वसुधारा की पद यात्रा से सबक लेकर एक दुकान पर रुककर आगे की यात्रा के लिए कुछ चने और मीठी गोलियाँ रख ली. सलधार से भविष्य बद्री तक का रास्ता ज़्यादातर जगह जंगल के बीच से गुज़रते हुए जाता था जहाँ कई जगह राह मे दो रास्ते सामने आ जाते थे जो हमारी दुविधा का कारण बन बैठते. ऐसे मे कई बार या तो स्थानीय लोगो की मदद से और कई बार बस किस्मत के भरोसे ‘अककड़ बक्कड़’ करके हम लोग जैसे तैसे सुभाईं नामक गाँव तक पहुँचे जहाँ से भविष्य बद्री की दूरी लगभग 1 ½ किमी ही रह जाती है.

उदयपुर – जगदीश मंदिर – माउंट आबू हेतु प्रयाण

वहां से निकल कर अगला पड़ाव था – जगदीश मंदिर ! मैं चूंकि एक घंटा पहले यहां तक आ चुका था अतः मुझे बड़ा अच्छा सा लग रहा था कि अब मैं अपने परिवार के लिये गाइड का रोल निर्वहन कर सकता हूं। परन्तु पहली बार तो मैं मंदिर की सीढ़ियों के नीचे से ही वापिस चला गया था। ऊपर मेरे लिये क्या – क्या आकर्षण मौजूद हैं, इसका मुझे आभास भी नहीं था। मंदिर की सीढ़ियों के नीचे दो फूल वालियां अपने टोकरे में फूल – मालायें लिये बैठी थीं । माला खरीद कर हम सीढ़ियों पर बढ़ चले। भाईसाहब का कई वर्ष पूर्व एक्सीडेंट हुआ था, तब से उनको सीढ़ियां चढ़ने में असुविधा होती है। वह बोले कि मैं टैक्सी में ही बैठता हूं, तुम लोग दर्शन करके आओ। मैने कहा कि टैक्सी में बैठे रहने की कोई जरूरत नहीं। मुझे एक दूसरा रास्ता मालूम है मैं आपको वहां से मंदिर में ले चलूंगा। उसमें दो-तीन सीढ़ियां ही आयेंगी। वह आश्चर्यचकित हो गये कि मुझे इस मंदिर के रास्तों के बारे में इतनी गहन जानकारी कैसे है। वास्तव में, जब मैं पैदल घूम रहा था तो एक बहुत ढलावदार रास्ते से होकर मैं मंदिर के प्रवेश द्वार तक आया था। उस ढलावदार रास्ते पर भी जगदीश मंदिर के लिये छोटा सा प्रवेश द्वार दिखाई दिया था। भाईसाहब इतनी सारी सीढ़ियां नहीं चढ़ सकते थे क्योंकि उनका घुटना पूरा नहीं मुड़ पाता परन्तु ढलावदार रास्ते पर चलने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं थी। मेरी जिस ’आवारागर्दी’ को लेकर सुबह ये तीनों लोग खफा नज़र आ रहे थे, अब तीनों ही बहुत खुश थे। आखिर इसी ’आवारागर्दी’ (जिसे मैं घुमक्कड़ी कहना ज्यादा पसन्द करता हूं) की वज़ह से भाईसाहब को मंदिर के दर्शन जो हो गये थे।

An Adventurous Trip from DELHI to Haridwar & Rishikesh

It was around 12’o clock in the afternoon we felt tired after a long drive and checked-in at Hari Heritage hotel on the Haridwar Rishikesh Highway. we left for Rishikesh in few hours and stayed in the hotel overnight. After disappointment at Har ki Pauri , Rishikesh was a real delight. Clean and chilled Ganga water flowing in from huge mountains to the plains..We parked out car in parking and had lunch at the famous choti wala restaurant where a Choti wala guy is at the entrance welcoming you. It took around half an hour to reach Rishikesh from Haridwar.

Makkah – Performing the Hajj Pilgrimage – 3

In reality, we returned to our hotel room in Makkah and snatched a little sleep before dawn. After the Fajr prayers, we proceeded to go to Mina, which is about 2 km away. Just ahead of Mina is the “Jamarat” or the place where the three “devils” are located. Before I describe this, let me say that stoning of the three devils is a ritual more to remember and praise Allah than to actually denounce the devils.

The route to Jamarat goes through a tunnel that is over a kilometer long. This tunnel was full of devotees right in the morning; only police and emergency vehicles are allowed to pass (and some motorcycles, which had one Saudi and one pilgrim … a private arrangement where the Saudi earns some quick bucks). We also saw several guys with wheel-chairs for hire; they ferried the willing pilgrims to Mina for 50 Saudi Riyals. However, theirs is an illegal enterprise, and we frequently saw the police blocking them and asking the pilgrims to “disembark”. However, the thing I wish to say is … the road to Mina, and beyond, to the Jamarat, is easily traversed as you are walking with hundreds of others. We went past the tunnel, and via a busy but narrow road, we finally reached Mina.

Makkah – Performing the Hajj Pilgrimage – 2

I was in regular touch with the other doctors whom I had left behind, and at about half past twelve, one of them informed me that Sk. Jamal, the tour operator, had finally sorted out the problem with the police, and that they would all be proceeding shortly directly to the hotel where we were to be lodged for the next few days.

I then caught a cab and went to the hotel, where everyone else was just arriving/settling down. This hotel, grandiosely called the Salman Plaza Hotel, was just a building with sub-standard rooms … the kind that you saw in your salad days! They had allocated one room of about 220 sq. ft. for 11 males! Each of us would get to sleep on a half-width Chinese mattress, with the rest of the space being used to keep our bags and shoes/slippers. The A/C worked okay, as did the fan. The room had a small (read cramped) toilet-cum-bath. I chose my “bed” and lay down almost immediately.

My co-passengers were all as tired as I was; one of my friends brought some food, and invited me to share it with him, which I did. We prayed the Dhuhr prayers, and then went to the Holy Mosque to perform the ARRIVAL circumambulation (7 rounds around the Holy Kaa’ba). I continued after this to also complete 7 lengthwise walks between Safaa and Marwah.
