A Balinese Sojourn

By

Finally, the last day began with a nice Balinese spa. It was so rejuvenating, one must not miss it at any cost. We went beach hopping that day. First, we went to the Benoa beach, it is famous for beach activities. As I am not very much into water sports, I just took some vibrant pictures and headed to Nusa Dua. Now that is the place one would hanker for. The turquoise calm water of the sea and the vast white sand beaches will make one go weak in the knees.

Feast Journey – Mumbai

By

To start with number one in my list is Bade Miyan , situated in the by lanes of Colaba and is behind the famous Taj Hotel. Actually it is not located behind the Taj Hotel but is in front of it , because the main entrance  of the Old Taj is located in the back side of the hotel .  Bade Miyan is mainly famous for the Non- Veg  food , it serves Mughalai cousin , though they have got a section of Veg food also .It is a highly popular food joint in south mumbai but  there is no availability of good seating area , one has to wait for around Twenty minutes standing beside a occupied table , kept on the footpath , sometimes it becomes irritating but after having the delicious food every shortcomings are forgotten.

Now the point where to start the feast and I will recommend Seekh Kawab, the softest Seekh Kawab I ever had in my life. They are grilled on the Charcoal fire and served hot, the shine on the surface due the juices flowing from it reflects the quality served. I bet you cannot stop with one plate of the Seekh Kawab and end up having couple of them.

We were climbing the steep ascent through the muddy, rocky and narrow route. Those on foot were making their path upwards according to their own convenience. Every step on such steep ascent of initial trek is the first test of one’s mind and faith. To strengthen devotees’ faith the Military Personnel are there and their presences are felt throughout the route.

The Underground World of GOD

Patal Bhuvneshwari was one of the most exciting tours for us. Before starting for Nainital ( Nainital is a Himalayan town in the Kumaon region of India’s Uttarakhand state, at an altitude  of around 2,000m. ) I explored about nearby places in Nainital. I do not want to explore the lake and another most visited place of Nainital.

Kerala’s Green Treasures-Idukki Trip-Part 2

Your troubles don’t end once you get the entrance tickets. Because the tickets to the actual boat ride will be issued only at the counters near the lake boating area which is another 2 kms away. From the gates of the sanctuary we left our car and took an auto to reach the boat house(auto drivers queue up at 3 am to book their place at the head of the queue). For the 2 kms, autos charge(robbed would be the right term)200 bucks to the inner gate of the sanctuary. From there, it is a sprint for another 500 metres to the ticket counter. After all these troubles, I just about managed to get the tickets just in the nick of time. I heard from the authorities that to avoid these troubles one can stay at the KTDC Aranya Nivas, inside the sanctuary which provides access to the boat rides.

RAVISH RIVER RAFTING- RISHIKESH

By

So the five of us zoomed out of Delhi by a cab on a Saturday morning by 6 am. It is recommended to leave Delhi early morning, else you get stuck in the traffic which will be tiresome. After crossing Meerut, we halted for breakfast as everyone was feeling ravenously hungry. Believe me, nothing meets the taste of Parathas & chai at the roadside dhabas during such trips. We filled our belly and then the journey resumed.

‘Rock’On Mahabalipuram!

‘Rock’On Mahabalipuram!

By

The streets of Mahabalipuram are a photographer’s delight. The city is famous for stone sculptures. You can get your sculpture done within 3 months and get it delivered to your place just by giving your photograph and your measurements. The murals of deities, elephants, bhuddha’s are a very common sight. It is an eye feast to look at the workmen at work, carving intricate designs on the stones. I got to speak to one such person, Surya , who was diligently making a Ganesh idol. It took him 3 months so far to make the below idol and it would fetch him 35,000 INR. These idols are made  using the machinery as well as traditional hammer and chisel. It gives altogether a different experience to stand among numerous idols which are going to make it temples where we are not allowed to go even 5 steps nearer. After a brief visit to the workshops we headed to the Arjuna’s penance.
