We then moved to the church of St. John in the Wilderness between Forsyth Ganj and Mcleod Ganj. This neo-gothic stone shrine was made in 1852 following Anglian structure. It was named after John the Baptist. As the structure lies deep inside dense woods, during the olden times, they appropriately named it as St. John In The Wilderness. There is a memorial devoted to Lord Elgin, who was Viceroy of India during British raj.

There were thousands of fishes, of various colors, sizes and types, swimming all around. I saw numerous sea creatures and touched few of them; they were completely harmless. The colors inside the sea were strikingly gorgeous. We saw huge coral rocks of various colors, where these creatures live.

Then Lia brought us to the cultural center. It had mainly three sections. The first section was dedicated to paintings and the tribal art. Each frame was magnificent. Nevertheless, two pictures really attracted me. The first was the paining on goat skin, depicting of “Ram hunting”. The richness of its colour was excellent. It was done by an unknown tribal artist.

so without wasting any more time we headed straight to Thinakara which is just five minutes away. Whatever we heard about this place was absolutely correct. Long white sand beaches, clear shallow sea, calm water, nice tents, water sports and what not.
