Trip to Kaudiyala

By

All of us were full of excitement and adventure and thrill, this was an out of the world experience┬а, now thrill doesn’t stop here, our trainer told that before we reach a cliff for cliff jumping we all will jump in river when he will ask to do. As soon as the last rapid came , he asked us to jump and we did, what a thrill……and excitment, chilled water and strong flow of water, but we are holding a rope tied with raft and floated with raft for 2-3 kms.

Everything stablised once we reached for cliff jumping, this was a jump from approx 30 feet height again a great thing to do. Finishing off just stopped before Rishikesh, came out of river , completely exhausted so had lemon water to claim our energies back. Took a local bus to reach Shivpuri where our vehicle was waiting.

CHOWMAHALA PALACE AND SALARJUNG MUSEUM тАУ HYDERABAD

By

A visit to this Museum is a delight for art lovers. Even if you are not interested then also you should visit it once. When ever you are visiting Salar Jung Museum make sure you must have at least 3 hours so that at least you can see the galleries (not in detailed although). The Museum is very big and you actually get tired walking inside all the galleries. But still it is worth watching. If you are visiting Hyderabad and not visiting Salar Jung Museum then your trip is incomplete.

A trip to Kasauli and Baru Sahib on bike

By

Got up at 7.30 AM. Checked the engine oil in our bikes and found that engine oil level in Hunk was very low. Asked the locals about any spare parts shop around and got to know that we can find one in Dharampur. Started our bikes again at 9.30 AM and moved on to see the very famous ‘Monkey Point’. Harmeet’s Hunk was loaded with 3 heavy bags as he had plans to stay at Baru Sahib. We reached Monkey point and got to know that we will have to trek and bags were not allowed. There was no place available where could keep our bags so had to drop the plan for ‘Monkey Point’. After that, we reached ‘Sunset point’. It was really an amazing place with a lot of breathtaking views. It was greenery all around and completely quiet place. Just the sound of birds. Just feel the fresh air and feels like you are in heaven. It was a very nice experience. After spending some time, enjoying the beauty of nature, we went to the market to have lunch. Had Chinese food at a shop but the food we had there was pathetic. I never had such food in my life. We left from there and decided to go to Shimla and then Kufri from there. Left from Kasauli at 3 PM. While on our way back, I started feeling sick and suffered from indigestion and gastric problems due to the food that we had. Reached Solan as Harmeet had to buy engine oil for his Hunk. Got the engine oil from Chambaghat near Solan. I was still not feeling well. Took a tablet of Pantop-D and we then decided to go to Baru Sahib due to health issues. Way to Baru Sahib was the worst one. Baru Sahib is located 70 kms away from Solan.

Ghumakkar Insights – Do more with Smart Phone-Camera in Hills

By

Sunsets and sunrise are the two most common sights that are photographed in the hills. We also get impressed with the breathtaking views of valleys or rows of hills covered with snow and feel that nothing can capture the view better than Panoramas. It can be very easily done with normal cameras. But can we also do it with Phone-Cameras? In May this year, I was in Srinagar in Kashmir to cover the Mughal Rally. We happened to visit a place called тАЬPir Ki GaliтАЭ that has amazing panoramic view. At that point in time, I felt the urge to click a panorama. I wanted to test whether my phone-camera could give me good results in panoramas as well. I found and downloaded Panorama applications from the Internet and created several panoramas. A good Phone-Camera and a companion application make the job quite easy and the results too are nothing short of impressive.

Dynamic weather in hills sometimes makes the life of us photographers more difficult than we expect it to be. These situations demand more flexibility in dealing with your Camera. Latest smart phones come with features like ISO, White Balance, Exposure Compensation etc. ISO can be very useful in low light conditions, Exposure Compensation can be a great help when your Camera is unable to judge the light around. White Balance is used in different ways to get the right colors or some magic in overall color scheme of your photographs. Many of these Cameras come up with different effects and some of them can be interesting to use while travelling. Flash capabilities are increasing with time and can be helpful in some critical situations.

Kinnaur-The land of apples (Part 1)

By

On day 3, before starting off for Sangla, we were in a dilemma on whether to make the short trip to Hatu peak or not. As we had to reach Sangla before it was dark, we decided to skip Hatu peak, which is about 8 KMs from Narkanda. Thus, we hit the NH22 directly and road conditions being good, we reached the town of Rampur in about 2 hours. We refuelled the Ertiga here and noted a mileage of 15-16 KM/Litre in hilly road conditions.┬а After, Rampur, the highway, which was once known to the British as the Hindustan-Tibet road, leads you further on to Jeori before entering the district of Kinnaur at Chaura. After entering Kinnaur, the road, cut into sheer rock, rises steeply above the Satluj River. It follows the Satluj and is one of the most vertiginous roads in the whole country offering a spectacular view of rugged mountains.

Dancing Peacock at Nahargarh Fort, Jaipur

By

Nahargarh Fort is perched on a hill overlooking the city of Jaipur. Best time to go there is early in the morning. It is a pleasant half hour drive from downtown city. There is a lush forest on both sides of the winding road. Drive slow to take in the greenery and sounds of the forest. People can be seen jogging and cycling. Birds chirp and peacocks give out their shrill cries when they see you approaching.

Venice Calling

While my son followed the boatmanтАЩs song with тАЬrow row row your boatтАЭ-my daughterтАЩs lively imagination propelled her to the way people in the olden times. The gondola swerved into smaller water channels, compressed by the rows of houses projecting on either side. The balconeys of most houses were decorated by a riot of colorful flowers. I imagined fair maiden peeping out of the balcony, glancing shyly at the boatman who had purposefully directed his boat there-to glance at lady of his heartтАжhmmm I know too vivid imagination-but thatтАЩs was just the Gondola ride playing tricks on my mind.

Thus FridayтАЩs point were Nehru Zoological park, Sudha Car Museum , Birla Temple, Hussain Sagar Lake and Golconda Fort. We started our visit at 1200 hrs and hired a cab as it was convenient as well as will help us in covering our planned points.

A Day trip to Fatehpur Sikri from Delhi

By

There are 4 things to see in Fatehpur Sikri fort complex┬а┬аBuland Darwaza, Fatehpur Sikri Fort, Tomb of Salim Chishti, and the Panch Mahal. All these places are architectural marvels of that time. The paintings on the main fort structure are exceptional. Many movies like Pardes, mere brother ki dulhan etc were shot here.

The Dargah of salim chisti was the best thing after Buland Darwaza which is the highest in the world The magnificent size of the buland darwaza was eye catching ..there are about 100-150 stairs then the gigantic structure called Buland Darwaza. Akbar later built the fort here and Jahangir did the marble art on Salim Chisti Dargah .In salim chisti dargah one can pray and can tie a knot to make a wish.As Akbar also wished for a child here and his wish got fulfilled.Even today people make wishes here.
