Bamsaru Khal Trek

In the morning, view outside our tents was spectacular. We saw snow capped Mountains all around , took some pics, but after 15-20 Min Mist covered the valley and mountains were not visible. We were supposed to start early , but got late, we finished our breakfast by 8:30AM and started walking towards Gidara.

From Dayara one black dog started walking with us , we thought it will go away after sometime but it remained with us till the end of trek. The Dog was too hairy, and resembled a bear , got scared of him twice, he also had a bad habit of crossing the path when there was a difficult climb or narrow path.

While on the trek an idea popped up that we should also visit “Dodital” ( Lord Ganeshji Birthplace ). Dodital situated at a distance of 30 km from Dayara Bugyal, is also popular among tourists. Going there meant an extension of 2 More days , which we could not afford. Hence all agreed to keep walking towards Gidara.

इसके बाद हम प्रकर्ति का अजूबा घूचूपानी या रोबर्स केव की और चल पड़े |हमारे गाइड और ऑटो चालक ने बताया जब आप अंदर जाओगे तो ऐसा लगेगा की आप वात्तानुकुलित सुरंग मे चल रहे है |घूचूपानी, देहरादून से 8 किलोमीटर दूर राजपुर रोड पर अनारवाला गांव से 1 किलोमीटर की पैदल दूरी पर सिथत है |यह एक प्राकर्तिक गुफा है जिसमे लगभग आधा किलोमीटर अंदर तक आप जा सकते है|गुफा के अंदर पानी गुप्त स्रोतों से बह रहा है |यंहा टिकेट ले कर हम अंदर परवेश कर गये ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे डिस्कवरी चैनल के किसी प्रोग्राम में शामिल हो गये है |कंही सुंदर झरना है तो कंही ऊपर से गुफा की दीवार मे से पानी की बोछार हो रही है |कभी आप कमर तक पानी मे डूब जाते है तो अगले ही पल पानी एकदम गायब हो जाता है|मेरे नटखट पुत्र ने इस जगह को नाम दिया गुपचुप पानी |

Rejuvenating Trip to Naukuchiatal

After a good stroll, my hunger meter was on & I enjoyed a nice buffet spread at restaurant. We went again for best spot near lake side & enjoyed the peace around the place. One shikara was approaching us & he offered us to take ride in lake. He also offered us cab service for local sightseeing. We decided to visit Sattal which was about 15-20 kms from our place. After taking a nap, we were ready to go on sightseeing, we preferred to took cab and rely on local info.

While on way to Sattal, we also explored Naldamiyanti Tal & Garuda Tal.The drive was very sceneric and Garuda tal was worth going. it was a perfect place to have a picnic or just being in lap of nature. Sattal was little commercialsed & we just spent ½ hr there.

A trip to Dehradun

That was the end of day, as no other place could be visited, it was 0930 pm. We started our local sight seeing on the next day. Trip started at 1000 am, starting towards Robber’s cave nice place the climate which was on previous day hot, now was cloudy and cooled down a bit, we all enjoyed the spectacular view of the cave kids enjoyed the entrance and we all enjoyed the cold water. It was also drizzling when we came out of the cave. The next destination was towards shastradhara, we enjoyed the view but could not found the namely view. Bit disappointed, only could locate the water-park type theme. The maintenance of a tourist spot was not seen as it should be, there is no parking facility, no management, but parking ticket is high.

Badrinath might be a famous pilgrim spot, yet it is no less known for its exquisite natural beauty. Badrinath was another 44 kms from Joshimath and is situated at an altitude of 3,133 meters above sea level. The resident deity of Badrinath temple is Lord Vishnu.

Next day morning, we got our breakfast packed and headed for Joshimath at around 8 a.m. It was a calculated four-hour drive from Rudraprayag. The hills were getting more and more rugged as we travelled farther and farther and more of stark, stony beauty of the Himalayas unfolded. The next stopover was at Karnaprayag. Karnaprayag is about 174 kms from Rishikesh and about 32 kms from Rudraprayag. It is again the divine meeting point of the geographically important green Pindar River with the religiously important brown and muddy Alakananda River. It is believed that here the mighty Karna had performed his penance and attained his indestructible powers from his father, the Sun God. We stretched our legs and after a brief stint of photography session, we continued heading towards Joshimath via the same NH 58.

पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार, जब गंगा नदी धरती पर अवतरित हुई, तो यह 12 धाराओं में बंट गई। इस स्थान पर मौजूद धारा अलकनंदा के नाम से विख्यात हुई और यह स्थान बद्रीनाथ, भगवान विष्णु का वास बना। भगवान विष्णु की प्रतिमा वाला वर्तमान मंदिर 3,133 मीटर की ऊँचाई पर स्थित है और माना जाता है कि आदि शंकराचार्य, आठवीं शताब्दी के दार्शनिक संत ने इसका निर्माण कराया था। इसके पश्चिम में 27 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित बद्रीनाथ शिखर कि ऊँचाई 7,138 मीटर है। बद्रीनाथ में एक मंदिर है, जिसमें बद्रीनाथ या विष्णु की वेदी है।

इस स्थान से आगे निकलते ही घने बुरांश के और देव दार के जंगल शुरू हो जाते हैं. और गढ़वाल की ऊँची चोटियों के भी दर्शन हो सकते थे पर उस ओर कोहरा छाया हुआ था. यह क्षेत्र बुरांशखंडा के नाम से भी मशहूर हैं. बुरांश के पेड़ यंहा पर बहुतायत पाए जाते हैं. बुरांश का फूल उत्तराखंड का राजकीय फूल हैं. इससे जैम, जैली, शरबत, व विभिन्न आयुर्वेदिक दवाए बनायी जाती हैं. इन दिनों उत्तरखंड की पहाडिया इन फूलो से भरी रहती हैं.

Dayara Bugyal – Part 2/2

Our trail was up and down over stones, tree trunks and crossing a couple of streams. We even witnessed last patch of ice around the streams. Arjun showed me how the place must be buried under snow as evident from flattened branches of shrubs. The forest was mainly comprised of Oak trees but there were others including Bhoj tree from where bhoj patracomes from. We were constantly descending and my knees started showing signs of wavering on trying to descend. As treking pole I picked up one tree branch and broke it in couple of strokes to make it suitable to which Arjun complimented that I have become a pro now.

Dayara Bugyal – Part1/2

We finally started at 5:45 AM and straight hit the road to Gangotri. The twists and turns were churning my stomach and sleep was dozing me off. I got woken up couple of times due to being thrown away by swerves. The journey up was not very exciting. There was no river following our route as Bhagirathi (or Ganga) comes into picture only near Tehri. There was lot of haze due to which mountains and landscape was not looking great. The road was broken at many places due to landslide and due to dryness, there was lot of dust blowing from passing vehicles. The mountain face also looked scarred at many places due to debris from landslide and construction spreading over it. The weather was unnaturally very hot and devoid of moisture because of which loose earth of rubble was flying & getting all over you. Finally the river was seen with muddy color but very less flow. The reduced flow turned out was due to ice having started to melt only now and river would be in full flow in June.
