A Trip to Tungareshwar – Lord Shiv Temple in Shravan Month

Tungareshwar Temple is small, well maintained. On both side of the Main gate of Temple there is a Small Temple.Photo frame of Lord Ganesh, Goddess Durga and Lord Shree Ram hang from the ceiling wall. In centre of the temple is Nandi Bail, the Vehicle of Lord Shiva, sitting steady as His Guard. Above Him hangs a huge bell. I ring it to announce my arrival and stand in a queue for Darshan, as there was not too much rush.

Shree Gajanan Maharaj – Shegaon

Trip was fixed when I was coming back from office by Local Train in the month of December 2012 & in train one of the co-passenger given Laddu as a Prasad from Shree Gajanan Maharaj – Shegaon, as it was his native place & he visit regularly. On the same time we decided to go for the Darshan of Shree Gajanan Maharaj in Shegaon & other 3 friends to agree and now date to be fixed for the trip, finally we decided to visit in the Month of January 2013 from 25th January to 28th January, 2013 and accordingly we have booked Railway ticket on the next day & we have got the confirm Ticket too.. ESSEL WORLD – Island of fun…

There were many adults ride also, but our main focus was on children so we didn’t enjoy any adult rides except Hoola-loop which was sort of Roller coaster. Me and my brother has taken this ride and closed our eyes at the start of the ride only. It was a real thrilling adventurous rides, but very scary for people like us.

We were all there, ready to rock n roll, and lined up for a photograph at the starting point … when to our horror, the Armed guard from the cantonment came running towards us …. “hey … yahan photo kheechna mana hai” (photography is not permitted here), we could not take panga with the armed forces and we like good citizens of the country started our machines … and with a roar of 4 RE, 1 Honda CBR, 5 pulsars moved from Rakshak Chowk. The Ride to Rajasthan Had officially started!!!

The Indomitable Daulatabad Fort, Aurangabad

As you enter the fort, you are greeted by this tall minar – Chand Minar. It used to be covered with Persian glazed tiles. Now they have whitewashed it in faded orange colour. You want to strangle the person who ordered this colour. The minar was built by Ahmed Shah II to celebrate the capture of the fort. To approach from the front one has to go through three bastions of fortified walls.

Romancing the Train – Pune to Nasik

My favourite travel author Paul Theroux says in the opening paragraph of ‘The Great Railway Bazaar’ – the best travel book ever written – “I have seldom heard a train go by and not wished I was on it”. One simple sentence summarizes the entire romance and mysticism around the trains. It conjures up the sights and sounds of unknown exotic destinations. It is as if you don’t care where the train goes; you only want to be someplace that is far and not seen before. Someplace where people look different, language you can’t understand but sounds musical; and food is an adventure everytime.

Meanwhile, the train chugs along several stations. It is the perfect weather to buy chikki in Lonavala and feast on hot vada paos. The taste brings back memories from the past. It seems as if the chikki and vada tastes have been standardized like McDonalds. You remember the taste from times long gone when you took the Madgaon Express from CST to Goa every month on the Konkan Railway Line.

Pune to South Goa Road Trip

At 12.30 pm we crossed over into Karnataka, and paid another toll. Immediately we could sense that we were in a different state. The traffic was much less in Karnataka as compared to the heavy traffic right upto Kolhapur in Maharashtra. The scenery was better, with undulating hills in the distance. There were flowering bushes in the road divider which made the drive more pleasant, and lay-byes with public utilities at regular intervals along the highway.

ऐसे पहुंचे हम मुंबई !

हमें पश्चिम एक्सप्रेस पकड़नी थी जो रात्रि 10 बज कर 45 मिनट के लगभग नई दिल्ली स्टेशन पर अवतरित हुई। प्लेटफार्म पर लगे हुए चार्ट में पुष्टि करके हमने अपनी कोच में जाकर सामान वगैरा शायिका के नीचे ठीक से लगाया, रेलवे की हिदायत का अनुपालन करते हुए चेन से भी बांधा। मित्रों-संबंधियों को हार्दिक धन्यवाद देकर विदा किया, गाड़ी चलने पर वस़्त्रादि बदल कर लेट गये। बाहर अंधकार का साम्राज्य था, मिडिल बर्थ खोली जा चुकी थीं अतः नीचे वाली बर्थ पर सिर्फ लेटा ही जा सकता था, तब भी दोनों बच्चों को वही नीचे की बर्थ चाहिये थीं ताकि खिड़की से बाहर के दृश्य देखते रह सकें। पता नहीं दोनों कितनी देर तक खिड़की से बाहर अंधेरे में आंख गड़ाये बैठे रहे होंगे। अर्द्धरात्रि में चल टिकट परीक्षक ने दर्शन दिये। नींद से उठकर उनको स्थिति स्पष्ट की और एक टिकट के लिये बकाया किराये हेतु रसीद बनाने के लिये कहा। उन्होंने जुर्माने सहित जितनी राशि मांगी, दे दी। हमें नींद आ रही थी अतः फिर सो गये परन्तु इस शोषण को देखकर मन में एक असंतोष बना रहता है और जब भी ऐसा अवसर पुनः आता है, यही मनस्थिति होती है।
