I visited Pondicherry 3 yrs ago with my husband and fell in love with that place on the very first day. I am not sure if it is the place or the hotel, but I loved every bit of that town so much that the memories feel fresh event today.
The Promenade is a luxurious boutique hotel owned by the owners of ” Hi design” and managed by the Sarvor Hotels. Its located on the heart of the town and is a convenient place for those beach lovers. As the name says it is a bliss to walk in front of this hotel along the sea side of Puducherry.
The bright interiors in the corridors are enhanced by modern paintings and rooms has a touch of soft leather on the couches and headboard. You might wanna take the sea facing rooms to hit the bed with a sound of sea waves and arise with sun shining bright on your face.
We reached the hotel at around 10 in the night and to my surprise the receptionist greeted us with our names even before we approached the desk. Very swiftly we finished the formalities and the bell boy escorted us to out room. Our room like I mentioned before had very modern and boutique touch to it.
We quickly hopped down to the coffee shop to get some dinner before it was too late. We had a pasta and pizza, I would personally not rate the food excellent but was good. After which we went around the hotel to check the facilities ( coz me & my husband are hoteliers its so typical for us to this). The hotel had an exquisite roof top restaurant called Lighthouse which offers mouthwatering Barbeque & Grill Menu, but to our disappointment the restaurant was shut due to rains.
It was my husband’s b’day and I had requested the hotel staff to bring a cake to our room as a surprise. At midnight I wished my husband and he also received a few calls from his friends. I was hoping and waiting for the cake to arrive but to my dismay it never arrived and we dosed off to sleep. Soon after close to 1 am the room service knows our door to deliver the cake. Despite being irritated and angry I thanked him for bringing the cake, so we had a post midnight cake cutting ceremony.
Our morning breakfast was served at the coffee shop, the breakfast had a mixture of Indian and continental food. Idlis, Upma, appam and dosa served with sambar and chutney. Toast, eggs, omelet with some cornflakes and coffee. Sumptuous was the word. Its always great to have a early morning breakfast watching exciting travellers chit chatting with each other about their memorable experience to a new country.
Sadly we were there on a short stint and had to check out that afternoon. Good service and an excellent ambiance made our stay memorable.
Sweet, short and honest review of The Promenade.
We still await your write up on the beaches of Venice.
Please do keep writing.
I would want to go to Pondy again. Our last trip , being the only one, probably didn’t give us a lot of opportunity to visit many places. I still remember the multiple walks we took amid the central lanes and I still very much use the wallet bought from Hi-Design :-)
What’s the tariff like ?
