Ram Ganga Resort, Corbett – Resort Review

Corbett Ram Ganga resort is a resort near Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR). Its a Welcome Heritage property and their website is here. I spent a night there in November 2008 and thought that a quick review would help fellow ghumakkars.

Corbett Ram Ganga Resort

Location
Ram Ganga is at Marchula, which is about 35 KMs away from Ramnagar and that makes it really remote since its not on the main Ramnagar – Ranikhet Road. But then it also puts this resort in a special category and much more suited for those who are looking forward for some seclusion. The approach to this report is pretty ok though. For driving directions, I am putting a map.

Go all the way till Ramnagar, go past Aamdanda Gate (this lead to Bijrani Forest Rest House), go past Dhangarhi Gate (this leads to Dhikala Forest Rest House), reach a place called ‘Mohan’ (Pronounced as Mohaan), take a left and then keep straight. After a while you would find ‘Girija Devi Gate’ on your left. Keep going straight. You would find this resort on your left after a while.

Facilties
With large lush green lawns and a well maintained infrastructure, and a super view from anywhere, you wont repent a penny once you are here. Apart from being a little off, there is nothing else where it scores less from some of the other well known places in that area.

There are 10 cottages, 10 Swiss Tents and 10 Suites. It has a Swimming Pool, a dining room, a bonfire place (covered) and river Ram Ganga goes sideways so you can always step down and take a dip.

Suites

I was in a tent which was pretty decent but not plush. Cottages were a little better with Tea/Cofee maker and better lights. You get hot running water. Staff is polite and effective.

Swiss Tent

There is a hall where one can arrange a private party.

Swimming Pool

Food was very nice. We took buffeets and it was pretty nice. Not many items in the spread but whatever was there, was very well prepared.

Food

Tariff
We paid Rs 2450 per pax for a night with 5 meals and extra time. And I would think that it was worth it. We were in cottages and tents and it was a large group. I would imagine that for suites, the cost would be a little higher.

Sheer Bliss

All in all, Ram Ganga Resort is the place to be if you are looking out for chilling out. Lot of sun, lot of river, spectacular view and totally secluded.

That was a very informative review. I am hoping to go to Jim Corbett early next year, so this is very timely. Two questions – How clean is the facility and the bathrooms
    Is this inside the NP?

  • nandanjha says:

Richa – Thanks for the offer.

Vamsee – Thanks. Its very clean including Bathrooms. This resort is not inside the NP. There is no private resort inside CTR but there are FRH (Forest Rest Houses). If you can manage then I would suggest that you try staying inside. You can book ‘Dhikala FRH’ from the Delhi office of CTR. For other FRH, you would have to ask someone locally to help you out.

Ghumakkar’s local contact is ‘Koustubh Pandey’ and you can reach him at thejungleguide@gmail.com and give the reference of ‘Ghumakkar’, you would get a good service.

And finally, if you like the content and folks here, why not write your travel stories here as well. I can assure you that you would get a good company.

Thanks for this wonderful review. The resort looks good enough – far from the madding crowds.

On our next visit to the Kumaon Hills, we can think spending sometime at the resort before proceeding to the hills.

Ram – Thanks for liking this. Hotel Reviews are always useful but they are generally not a good reading material :), so thanks for reading and leaving a comment.

This resort is on the Corbett side and typically it wont fall either in Delhi-Nainital-Kausani kind of trail or even Delhi-Corbett-Ranikhet because you have to take a detour from the main road. I would probably think that this resort is best enjoyed by itself, far from the Crobett hustle-bustle.

    Tempting indeed!

Camping Auction – Nice Video. Very educative.

    Patrick – Indeed.

  • Nandan Sir,
Nice review… Did you visit Salluna???the property just beside Ramganga Resort. That’s also a nice property.
Can I post Reviews for other resorts in Corbett as I know all the property.?????? Will you post my Reviews?????

  • nandanjha says:

Kostubh – Thanks. I was there at Solluna last year. Good resort but they would take some time to come out of ‘Raja Hotel’ psyche, probably work needed from ‘Sarovar’ guys to train Solluna folks. But thats another very good property. I am sure it would have got better over the last year and a half when I visited.

Typically , a review from someone who stayed at a particular resort would be a real travel review :). I know you have been helping Ghumakkars in getting a good acco, may be you should try to convince those guys to write reviews :)

Again, thanks for being around and your comments.

Ankur – Thanks. Its been a while you wrote something here :)

  • Undeniably imagine that which you stated. Your favourite reason appeared to be at the net the easiest thing to take into account of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while other people consider concerns that they just do not recognise about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top and also outlined out the entire thing without having side effect , people can take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. Thanks

  • You really make it appear so easy together with your presentation but I find this matter to be really something that I feel I’d by no means understand. It kind of feels too complex and extremely wide for me. I am looking forward in your subsequent put up, I’ll attempt to get the grasp of it!

  • Thanks for sharing information about resort in corbett. Pics are very beatiful
