Just after coming back from the Yamunotri trip in July i bought a new camera and since then it took me 6 weeks to get it out, experiment and use. Since getting out from Delhi was not possible thanks to the work schedule, i thought of visiting National Zoological Park in Delhi. I discussed the same with Adhiraaj but he was not keen on visiting the Zoo. So, since mid July every weekend i would plan for an outing and every time i would sleep through the day. It was enough and this time i was determined to go. So, irrespective of what time i slept the previous night, or the weather outside, i woke up at 8:00 a.m, got ready and covered the 15 km distance from my place to the National Zoological Park in 30 mins flat.
I parked the bike and went straight to the ticket counter which was mostly crowded by the young couples and waited for my turn to get the ticket. As i approached the ticket counter, i noticed a spectacled man sitting behind the glass window and here goes the conversation that followed –
TC: How many? (Monotonous Voice)
Me: One and handed him a 100 rupee note
TC: Give me the change (Ticket Cost – Rs. 20/-)
Me: Sorry! No change…
TC: Get the change then (Threw the 100 rupee note right back at me)
Anyways i went to the shops outside and bought water and stuff and got the change. Then i went back to the counter again and
TC: How many? (Monotonous Voice)
Me: One and this time handed him exactly 20 rupees and i noticed some brochures lying there as well
Me: Can i get the brochure as well, i’ll pay extra for that.
TC: Not for you.
Me: Why? I am ready to pay extra for that…
TC: Just pointed his finger towards me and signaled me to leave.
It was rather disappointing and i was miffed. What the hell? No manners. When will they get some lessons on the customer service?
Well, there was no point thinking about that and moreover once i got my camera out i forgot everything and got busy clicking…..
The End….
Great Job Aditya. You captured Lion very well. Congrats for your new camera. Which camera and lens you bought?
Thanks Amit :)
The camera model is Canon 600D with 18-135mm kit lens.
WoW amazing pics I personally liked that ‘survival of the quickest’ pic , I appreciate the efforts which might have gone in waiting for that perfect shot while doing nature photography .
Cheers !
Gaurav
Thanks Gaurav :)

Hi Aditya,
Very nicely taken photographs!
Could you tell me, how did you water marked the photographs with your name?
Thanks… :)
I use a watermark software. You can check out the same from the following website –

Hi, Aditya… This is really a good use of your skill and innovative photography.
Best Regards!
Thanks for liking the post… :)
Great pics. Simply stunning. The first shot is a marvel and by putting 2 hours to get that kind of shot talks a lot about you. Are you sure you are not the Farhan of 3 Idiots :-)
I do not remember being in Zoo in July/August. By the way, I heard that Zoo was closed for sometime because of excessive rains and it has been re-0pened again. The ticket-counter guy must have done the sabotage to avoid giving more brochures :-)
The gravatar is not showing up. Can you please try clearing everything you have at Gravatar and then put a new fresh one, with the right rating.
Where would this ‘Delhi Darshan’ series take us next ?
Thanks Nandan… :)
I too read the news a couple of days back regarding the closure of zoo due too excessive flooding. It’s sad that the place is not properly kept. Don’t know when they will understand the importance of preserving all this.
I’ll try my luck once again on the gravatar. Hope it works this time.
And next in the series will be Purana Qila.
Hi Aditya,
Full marks for the real astounding pics !!!
You could easily pass them off as pics from a jungle safari/ NatGeo variety (coming to think of it, my photography efforts in a zoo will result in showing off jarring cages fully in focus and animals perhaps appearing hazily in the background, if at all). Great job.
And that encounter at the ticket counter, call it simply ‘ the great Indian sarkari mindset at play’.
Thanks,
Auro.
Thanks Aurojit… :)
Aditya and all zoo enthusiasts – seems like good times ahead. Putting a link of a news item I read in today’s HT.
