Udaipur – The City Of Lakes – A Photolog

What can I say about Udaipur . This place remains one of the favourite destinations for tourists visiting Rajasthan. Having the same thing in my mind I planned this trip. I cannot say it a vacation , rather it was a single day trip. Actually I had a single day off from the office. Just a week in advance , I was thinking how will I utilize this holiday. Then I thought of Rajasthan. I did not want to visit Jaipur as I had visited it multiple times. Then came to my mind the Lake city Udaipur. I had visited Udaipur 15 years before. So I planned this time .

Hope I could have travelled to Udaipur this way doing my favourite road trip , but time shortage restricted me.So I booked my flight ticket. The date was 6th Sept. I reached Udaipur at 9 am. The Airport was really very clean. As this was the first flight to reach there , the airport was empty.

Actually my friend lives there. So he came to the airport to recieve me. Then he took me to his house. After that we went for the local sight seeing. I explained him everything that I had only one day in my hand.

Fateh Sagar Lake

Udaipur was the historic capital of the former kingdom of Mewar .Udaipur was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II .This city lies on the Golden Quadrilateral, midway between Delhi and Mumbai National Highway (NH) 8.It is around 700 kilometres from either metro.

Inside the Fateh Sagar Lake , there is a park called the Nehru Park. What I found about Udaipur is that , no doubt it is a beautiful city and it is a very calm place , it is not as bright and bubbly city such as Jaipur.

Lake Pichola

Pichola Lake was built in 1362 AD by Banjara. This lake is 4 km long and 3 km wide. Two islands, Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir are located within Pichola Lake. The Lake Palace was built in 1743-1746. It is made of white marble and is situated on Jag Niwas island in Lake Pichola.

The Lake Palace

Jag Mandir is another island in Lake Pichola which is known for its garden courtyard.

Then we went to Doodh Talai.
A rock and fountain garden and the sunset point from which one can enjoy the sunset view in Lake Pichhola and a panoramic view of the old city. Also one can enjoy the Aerial tramway (rope way) which connects one of the dudh talai gardens to Karni Mata temple.

By this time it was evening. Still many places were left for my visit. But it was my flight time then. I tried my level best to cover as many places as possible , but still the famous Saheliyon Ki Baari was left. Sahelion ki Bari was laid for a group of forty-eight young women attendants who accompanied a princess to Udaipur as part of her dowry. It has elephant shaped fountains. I remember it in my faid memories.

I took the flight which was in the evening and by night I was back in my house , ready for my office the next day. My family was really very surprised that how could I cover Udaipur in a single day. Even I was surprised but finally a single day quick trip ended.

Thanks for Reading.
