The magnificent heritage city of Jodhpur dotted with palaces, havelis, temples and houses washed pale blue retains much of the medieval flavour and ambience reminding us of the grandeur and glory of days past. The imposing Mehrangarh Fort and within it the Phool Mahal, Sheesh Mahal and Moti Mahal are notable places worth visiting. Umaid Bhawan Palace (part of it is now a heritage hotel) and Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum exhibit the splendour of Jodhpurs royalty. If you happen to visit the city during the months of October and November, you could choose to attend polo matches that are a royal sport, the Marwar festival for an insight into royal yesteryears or the Rajasthan International Folk Festival for music and dance. A desert safari could also prove to be a wonderful experience. Jodhpur is very well connected by air, railways and road.
