Dwarka is one of the main Pilgrim of Hindu dharma.I went dwarka with my family on 5th Dec 2011.We started our journey from Jaipur to dwarka. I booked my train tickets one month ago so we were lucky that we got confirm reservation seat in Uttranchal EXP.
Uttranchal Express Is a weekly train which starts from Dehradun and goes to Okha one station next to Dwarka. The train runs only on Sunday from jaipur at 19:20 and reach Dwarka at 15:28. We reached at Dwarka at 15:30 in the noon and then We took a auto –rikshaw from station to hotel. (Here I want to warn you that find a best suitable hotel, dharmshala or lodge by yourself because if you will book the hotel suggested by riksha wala then they will charged you more as a commission of Auto wala.
I booked Vandana hotel which is located on main highway road but the distance of this hotel from the main temple or city is around 2-3 KM.We took a little rest and then we went for to see sight scenes, we took a auto rikshaw and he charged 150, all sight scenes are within 4-5km.I suggest please go to see sight scene near about 4Pm and go for to see sunset in the last.
After to see sight scene we came back to hotel and took a bath and then decided to go for main dwarkadish temple for darshan. I strongly recommend that please go there near aarti time. You shall feel a transcendental wonderful peace there.
We stayed there at temple around 1 hour and after then we went for to book our next journey tickets at Bus stand. After then we went for dinner in a Marwadi restaurant, food was good and as usual in gujrat they always serve sweet KHADI you can call Gujrati khadi instead of Rajasthani.
Next day morning we waked up early and went for took bath in holy river gomti near the temple and then we went to temple for worship dwarkadhish. And came back and got ready for bet dwarka and nageshwar jyotirlinga temple.
We started our journey at 8 our seat was pre reserved it was a travlling bus which cover some other religious places with bet dwarka and nageswar jyotirling. Our first stopage was Rukmani mandir after darshan we went for bet dwarka.
You need to take a engine boat which will take you across the sea.Bet dwarka is most important religious place and as belived that shri krishna meet his friend sudama here. After visited bet dwarka we just left for nageshwar jyotirling.
And after the darshan of Nageshwar jyotirling we moved for next religious place. We came back from bet dwarka and nageshwar at 3 and then we took a nap for some time. And then set out on foot for sight scene near the city I forgot the name of the temple situated near dwarka city but you can get information about temples and sight scene from the hotels and local citizens and Autorikshwalas.
After then we went to dwarkadhish temple for aarti and then went to bus stand to book tickets for our next journey i.e. Somnath jyotirling. We took our dinner in hotel itself and then went to the bed.
Next morning we got up early in the morning and caught bus for next journey as our ticktes was already booked so there was no need to worried about seat. Dwarka to somnath takes 5-6 hours by road and we reached at around 1 and then booked room in hotel near main temple they charged 300 per day.after a little rest we got ready for sight scene of the city so we took a auto rikshaw. there are 7-8 religious place. we took a bath in triveni river.and then went to somnath temple in the evening time (Aarti)
There are two temple one is old which was destroyed by mohammad gajani and a newly constructed temple.Don’t miss to see waves of sea from the temple and waves creates a wonderful sound. The atmosphere of somnath city is not good as a big fish market is there which smell very bad.
We took dinner and went to the bed and next day we left for junagadh by train. You need not to be do reservation for junagadh. But I don’t suggest for visit junagadh as junagadh is not a religious plase it’s a historical place. We feel bored in junagadh. And junagadh was very hot like summer.
We stayed one night at Junagadh and moved for Ahemdabad. We got train for ahemdabad and reached ahemdabad in noon then took rest, lunch and got ready for sight scene. We went for Kankriya lake place and Akshar dham.
After visited ahemdabad we came back to railway station and caught Ashram exp. For jaipur. We reached jaipur early in the morning.

Good Trip Hemant . I have been there twice . Thanks for sharing.
Nice trip.
Apart from the pilgrimage aspect, isn’t Dwarka an ancient town? I cannot remember off hand but I am sure that I either read or perhaps saw a documentary on TV about the prehistoric ruins of the submerged port town of Dwarka.
Your thread aroused my curiosity about the submerged archaeological finds that I had read about long ago. Here is a news report that you may find interesting

Quick and helpful log Hemant.
@ Gita – Thank you. I read the story. I wonder whether the Archae part would be attracting many (or any) folks to Dwarka.
Hi Hemant
Could you please advise on the buses and how to book them? I’ve been trying on the web but getting nowhere with almost all sites saying that there is no direct bus service between Dwarka and Somnath
U hv to book from there only….there are so many private tour and travails offices they give bus services to dwarka to somnath and other…just go thr and then book your seat prior one day of the date of your journey. good luck.
thanks mr hemant. I have been nurturing the dream to go th dwarka with family. i want to cover dwarka, gir, palitana , girnar etc also. I live in Delhi and i plan to visit in june . Your guidance is highly solicited. waiting for your guidance at e mail.

Nice comment with good images. I have also visited Dwaraka twice and Bhadakeshwar temple also near light house once. It is also important to note that there is an astronomical laboratory by the sied of the light house where the time of sunset during the longest day is recorded.

Hello I m going to Dwarka on this diwali with my family pls tell which place I should go..
Sir i am visiting on 9.2.2018 nish kalank mahadev and on 10.2.2018 somnath and dwaraka on 11 and 12.2.2018. Since 13 .2 is mahasivaratri i am worried about heavy crowds. Can somebody clarify about the rush
Much hype is created around nish kalank mahadev. There is no fixed timing for the recede of sea water. The place is very shaby and there is nobody to give u any sort of information. No place to wait. No refreshments. Not worth the visit. Think twice before embarking upon the trip
Hi people, I have visited Dwarka and Somnath recently with my family (15 members) and my experience flawless and too good in terms of everything. Our total trip in terms of planning, accommodation, and transportation was managed by the Dwarka town’s oldest travel firm Shee Bhagwati Tours & Travels sharing their direct contact number which might be useful to other travelers +91 83692 68336 they even have a branch office in Mumbai.
Hope it will be useful. thanks!
