Mackinac Island

Michigan is replete for its beautiful and scenic places”. We planned to visit some island during July which was a good time for travelling. We did our customary research on many places and found “Mackinac Island” a perfect place to visit as it was out of the city. Though it attracted crowd, it was far away from pollution and yet creating an atmosphere to cherish upon.

It is a long 300 miles travel for about 4 hour on I 75 N. Well must say the  pleasant weather made us to reach within 3 hrs. When we reached the destination we were taken by a Ferry to reach “Mackinac Island”. On your first night, under an unbound sky ablaze with flirting stars, your troubles merely drift away. Waking to the sound of horse hooves on silent streets, the fail-safe plot you dreamed begins with the daylight. Wrapped in all its graces and grand passions, you’re on Mackinac Island. After reaching the Island we were welcomed by the beauty, hassle-free traffic roads and the fine dining….Tour acres of pristine Mackinac Island beauty by carriage and bi-cyle, even we prefered bi-cyle as we enjoyed our privacy. Promenade the lakeshore boardwalk in the moonlight. Or, simply marvel alone about the wonders of pampered relaxation…

The most noticeable first impression visitors get of Mackinac Island is the absence of automobiles! Visitors and residents travel by foot, bi-cyle or horse-drawn-carriage.

Lot of attractions and activities one can enjoy during their visit in this place. You can enjoy golf at the greens, visit wings of Mackinac (the wonderful butterfly conservatory on the Island). We enjoyed the beautiful gardens while observing the large variety of butterflies, an evening stand-up comedy show with Stuart comedian.

With lot more things to enjoy they have wide variety of events and nature bourne adventures like scuba diving, kayaking, jet skiing to name a few. Having filled our hearts with loth of memories to cherish we left the Island after watching the sun set (the most romantic experience) and reached our place back.

    Hi Maina,

Mackinac Island has interested me ever since I met a very interesting old man from the Island. He was very helpful and curious about India. He explained the lack of automobiles to me and I was very curious about how life goes on here. It was nice to get a first hand account about it finally.

Thank you Vibha. Thank you Nandan. We had little less time at the Island as we had planned to return Detroit on the same day… So could not visit the complete Island.

Happy Deepavali to Vibha and Nandan

    Impressive….

  • Undeniably imagine that which you said. Your favourite reason seemed to be on the net the easiest thing to consider of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while other people consider worries that they just do not realize about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the top as smartly as defined out the whole thing with no need side-effects , people can take a signal. Will likely be again to get more. Thank you
