Drive Thru
जुलाई 1 को कैनेडा डे मनाया जाता है और यह सार्वजनिक अवकाश होता है. मैं इस दिन सिल्वन लेक जाने का प्रोग्राम बना लेता हूँ. विशाल भी मेरे साथ था. सिल्वन लेक फोर्ट सस्केच्वन से 200 किमी है. सुबह जल्दी चल कर नाश्ते के लिए टिम होरटन पहुँच जाते हैं. टिम होरटन कैनेडा में बहुत मश्हुर है. यह कैनेडीअन का है, इस लिए अमेरिकन रेस्तराँ से ज्यादा लोकप्रिय है. फोटो में SUV ( गाड़ी ) ड्राइव थरु पर जा रही है. आप जो दो बॉक्स देख् रहें हैं, उसमें माइक और स्पीकर लगा हुआ है. चालक अपना ऑर्डर माइक पर बता देगा, जैसे ही वह खिड़की पर पहुँचेगा, उसका ऑर्डर त्यार होगा. पैसे चुका कर वह गाड़ी ड्राइव करते हुए अपना ब्रेकफास्ट एन्जॉय करेगा. पर मैं आप को काउंटर पर ले कर चलता हूँ.

काउंटर पर ब्रेकफास्ट सेंडविच और काफी का ऑर्डर करता हूँ. कैनेडा में बताना पड़ता है, कितना दूध और चीनी चाहिए. डबल डबल कहता हूँ. दो दूध और दो चीनी. यह टिम होरटन वाले बड़े चालाक हैं. प्रचार करेंगे कई लोकेशन पर इनको मुनाफा नहीं होता, सिर्फ़ लोगों की सेवा के लिए काम कर रहें हैं. टिम होरटन की एक लोकेशन तो अफगानिस्तान में कैनेडा के मिलिट्री बेस में है. आप ख़ुद ही बताइये लोग कैसे टीम होरटन को तवजओ नहीं देंगे.

आप जो शोकेस देख रहें हैं, उनमें डोनट, मफिन और कोलड ड्रिंक हैं. जो भाई बहन डोनट, मफिन को कम जानते हैं, उनकी जानकारी के लिए, यह आटा, चीनी और थोड़ा बैकिंग सोडा मिक्स कर के अलग अलग शेप में बना देते हैं. हमारा चीनी वाला परांठॉ इस से कई गुणा ज्यादा स्वादिष्ट होता है. कैनेडा में टिम होरटन को बच्चे हलवाई की दुकान कहते हैं.

यह गोरे साहिब अपना ऑर्डर बता रहें हैं. काम करने वाली लड़की फिलपिंस की हैं. मैं भी अपना काफी और सेंडविच ले कर आ जाता हूँ. विशाल फोटो क्लिक कर देता है. आप जो कप देख रहें हैं , यह गत्ते का बना है . सिर्फ़ अमेरिका में काफी कप बनाने के लिए 94 लाख पेड़ हर साल काट दिए जाते हैं. शुकर है संसार के बड़े हिस्से में लोग यह कप इस्तमाल नहीं करते हैं.

यात्रा शुरू कर देते हैं. साइन बोर्ड और सड़क आप देख् रहें हैं. एक भाई ने सड़क पर दरारें होने की बात कही थी. मैंने दुनिया के काफी मुल्क देखे हैं. सड़क तो सब जगह एक जैसे ही है. गडडे कम् ज्यादा हो सकते हैं. मैंने बचपन में सुना था पेरिस में सड़कें रबड़ की हैं. उसके बारे में SS जी से दर्खास्त है, कृपया जानकारी दें. घुमक्कड़ परिवार के सदस्य हर जगह से हैं, और आपबीती बता सकते हैं.

सड़क के किनारे हेलिकोपटर का शो रुम तो हो नहीं सकता. शायद किराये पर यात्रा के लिए ले कर जाते होंगे. नीचे फोटो में इस गाड़ी को ट्रक कहते हैं, और यह साहिब बोट ले कर लेक पर जा रहें हैं. ट्रक हो या बोट अम्मुमन एक सवारी ड्राईवर ही होता है. बहुत याद आते हैं वह दोस्त, जो हमेशा साथ जाने के लिए त्यार रहते थे. कोई भी गाड़ी हो, एक सीट कम ही रहती थी. चाय का अलग ही स्वाद होता था, विदेश में तो जैसे ही सेल्सपरसन सवाल करने शुरू करता है चीनी, दूध,… सारा मजा किरकरा हो जाता है, और अकेले चाय, कोफ़ी पीना कोई खास नहीं लगता.

रेड डीअर शहर जो एडमंटन और कैलगरी के बीच में है से रास्ता सिल्वन लेक को जाता है. यह २0 किमी के करीब है. सिल्वन लेक में रहने के लिए अच्छे होटल हैं. ७०$ से कमरे का किराया शुरु होता है. खाने के लिए काफी अच्छे रेस्तरां हैं. झील का नजारा अति उत्तम है. झील के चारों तरफ सड़क है. पैदल सैर करने के लिए पैदल पथ बना है. मोटर बोट, वाटर सलाईडिंग काफी कुछ है. सिल्वन लेक की लम्बाई १०.१ किमी है, और अधिकतम चोड़ाई ११.५ किमी है. औसतन गहराई ९.६ मीटर है और अधिकतम गहराई १८.३ मीटर है.

लोग तफ़रीह के लिए अक्सर सिल्वन लेक आते हैं. कैनेडा में मौसम ठंडा होने के कारण विटामिन डी की कमी हो जाती है. विटामिन डी सुरज की रोशनी से फ्री मिलता है. गोरे लोगों में टेन रंग का बहुत क्रेज़ है. महंगी महंगी क्रीम लगा कर धूप में बेठे रहते हैं. पर हज़ार में एक का रंग गेहुंआ होता है. सब से जयादा रोब में काले रहते हैं. महंगी गाड़ी, फैशननेबल कपडे और नाचना गाना इनका मुख्य शोक है. उससे भी जयादा ठसक कैनेडा के मूल नेटिव लोगों की है. कोलम्बस ने नेटिव लोगों को रेड इंडियन का नाम दिया था. पर अभी कोई रेड इंडियन कह दे तो नेटिव लोग, इसे गाली समान समझते है. अगर पाठक इंडियन का शाब्दिक अर्थ जानते हों तो बताने की कृपा करें. हम इंडियन कहलाने पर गर्व से भर जाते हैं, पर अंग्रेजी में इंडियन का अर्थ क्या होता है, कभी पढ़ा नहीं है.
चार पांच घंटे झील पर बिताने के बाद चलने का प्रोग्राम बनता है. १ जुलाई 2012 कैनेडा का 145 हैप्पी बर्थडे. कैनेडा भी ब्रिटिश की कालोनी था. 1867 के संविधान अधिनियम के तहत कैनेडा को आंशिक आजादी मिली थी. इस लिए १ जुलाई को कैनेडा डे मनाया जाता है. हालांकि पूर्ण स्वतंत्रता 1982 को प्राप्त हुई. सांकेतिक रूप में अभी भी ब्रिटिश महारानी कैनेडा और ऑस्ट्रेलिया की मुखिया है. 5 डालर के नोट पर भी महारानी की फोटो है.

सार्वजनिक अवकाश और हर शहर में कई जगह कैनेडा का हैप्पी बर्थडे मनाना. लोग काफी उत्साह में रहते हैं. मानव का मन हर जगह एक जैसा है. कैनेडा में पटाकों का बहुत चाव है. बच्चे तो पटाकों के पैकट देख कर मन्त्र मुग्ध हो जाते हैं. पर धव्नि वाले पटाकों पर पूरण पाबंदी है. अनार जैसे रौशनी करने वाले पटाकों को प्रशासन की अनुमति से शहर के बाहर चलाया जा सकता है. पर दाम बहुत महंगे है. कैनेडा डे पर प्रशासन की तरफ से आतिशबाजी का प्रोग्राम होता है. सिल्वन लेक से दो घंटे की ड्राइव के बाद मिलवुड के खुले ग्राउंड में पहुंच जाते हैं. काफी चहल पहल है. लोग तो सुबह से ही आने शुरू हो जाते हैं. एक स्टेज बनी है. आर्टिस्ट अपना प्रोग्राम देते रहते हैं. खाने पीने के कई स्टाल हैं. बैठ कर, चल कर जैसे दिल चाहे मेले का आनंद लो. आतिशबाजी ठीक ११ बजे रात को शुरू होती है. गर्मी के मौसम में रात १० बजे तक सुरज की रोशनी रहती है. नोर्थ साइड काफी आगे जाने पर गर्मी के मौसम में सुरज दिन रात चमकता रहता है.

स्टेज पर आर्टिस्ट प्रोग्राम दे रहें हैं . काफी लोग साथ में नाच रहे हैं. अगर गाना हिंदी, पंजाबी में होता तो मैं भी कुछ ठुमके लगा देता. पर अंग्रेजी गाने की बीट ही समझ आती है. नौजवानों के साथ नाचना अपने बस की बात नहीं है. सिर्फ फोटो क्लीक करके तसली कर लेता हूँ.

कैनेडा मैं १४ साल के बच्चे काम कर सकते हैं. मेले में पोपकॉर्न वालों ने यह सेल्स गर्ल रखी हैं. ५ $ का एक पोपकॉर्न का पैकेट. पता नहीं पोपकॉर्न अच्छे हैं, या सेल्स गर्ल की मुस्कान. लोग हाथों हाथ पैकेट खरीद रहें हैं. सेल्स गर्ल ५ $ लेने का ख्याल रखती हैं, ग्राहक अपनी पसंद का पैकेट खुद ही उठा ले.
अँधेरा होना शुरू हो गया. ११ बजने वाले हैं. अब आतिशबाजी शुरू होने जा रही है. रंग बिरंगी रौशनी से आसमान चमक उठा. चोथाई शहर के लोग एक जगह अतिशवाजी का आनंद ले रहे हैं. परदुषण तो होता है, पर इतना नहीं कि बर्दास्त न किया जा सके. सब की ऑंखें आसमान की और हैं. फोटो खींचे जा रहे हैं, मूवी बन रही है. सब लोग खुश हैं .

very good post Surinder… but you are missing from most of the photos. did you do water scooter there? I thought many times but could not because I dont know swimming and am always afraid of being drowned.
Yes in Paris the roads in residential areas are treated with a fine powder of rubber… this decreases the noise due to vehicles wheels. But on highways this treatment is not done.
In Paris, even the metros when they come out of surface near a residential area, run on rubber tyres instead of metal wheels. they have automatic system of changing the wheels, which switches between metal and tyres in fraction of a second..
It must surely be good as Surinder did it in Hindi but honestly, why do you want to make it a family album Silentsoul?

Thanks a lot for giving detailed comment. Tea is also available with coffee. Actually coffee machine just poured hot water on coffee filter. For tea they just provide hot water and give tea bag. Sugar and Milk can be added as choice. We here in Canada take tea bags with us, Hot Water can be taken from coffee machine, or tap. If needed can be boil in microwave and then in hot water just put tea bag and add sugar and milk. It is just dip chai as Indian Railway.
