Hello Friends.
I am a new member in Ghumakkar Family. I am opening my Ghumakkar account by sharing my Recent Kumaon trip with all of you.
I reside at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The place is very near to Dharuhera. This year, heat in summer were on the peak, & rains are very dull till now. The temperature of Bhiwadi is still around 38C. To get some relief from this heat, me and my Husband, Sundeep, decided to visit Uttaranchal. Although both of us have never been there, but we have been listening about the beauty of those hills.
Finally, we booked our train ticket in Kathgodam express on a Saturday night and started this wonderful journey.
Day 1, Start from Bhiwadi
Since, our train was scheduled at 10 pm from Old Delhi railway station, so we started at 6 pm from our home. With minimal luggage with us, we boarded a bus from Dharuhera. We got down at Gurgaon Iffco chowk and boarded in Metro, up to Chandni chowk. This step saved at least 1 hour of ours.
We reached Old delhi around 8.30 pm. Since, we had a lot of time, we had a brisk walk at chandni chowk and enjoyed our dinner there itself. We reached Station just in time and boarded the train. We found our berths and got settled there. The train started soon and we also slept with the excitement of waking up at foot of Kumaon hills.
Day 2, Arrival at doors of Heaven
5 am in the morning and train came to a halt at Kathgodam station. We came out of our coach and found light rains outside . Weather was AWESOME and AWESOME. I have never experienced such a beautiful atmosphere, neither in Bhiwadi nor in Delhi, my home town.
We came out of station. Lot of taxi drivers were there to pick any passengers. We spoke to couple of them and finally booked taxi of Mr. Raju Bisht. We booked the cab for all 4 days , starting from Kathgodam station & drop up to Kathgodam, @ a package of Rs. 7.5 K.
Soon, we started for Nainital. The hills had started and road was really curvy. The level of road started increasing slowly and soon we were on high hills. Now started the real fun. Clouds around us, Deep thick greenery, fresh cool air and minimal traffic was enough to fulfill us with a new energy. We were really excited by seeing this beauty and were dying to reach Nainital soon.
But, our driver stopped the vehicle for morning tea at a small town. The tea shop was very small & dark and I thought that probably tea is going to be pathetic. But to our surprise, tea tasted fantastic without any Ginger or Clove in it. Probably this was due to atmosphere. (Yeh mausam ka jaadooo hai mitwa…..)
We started back for nainital and soon reached near the beautiful Naini Lake. The driver helped us in getting a good hotel and we checked in. After a rest of 1 hour, we got ready and came out of the hotel. Our driver was already there to start further. We decided to have our breakfast first. Hot paranthas with Curd/ pickle and Tea were very tasty.
After it, we went to Zoo, Rajbhawan, Suicide Point and Lovers Point. All of the places were really beautiful and we enjoyed a lot. We also went to Sat tal, which is a natural lake, surrounded by lot of trees & minimal construction around it.
We stayed there for more than 2 hours. Then we started back to nainital. After reaching there, we walked near the lake till late evening. Since, we were tired of journey, we decided to retire early that day. We came to hotel, had our dinner and hit the bed.
This was one of the best days of my life and we enjoyed it very much, but lot of more is yet to come.
Same, I will share with you in coming parts.
Till then, Goodbye.
