Hello People…
I always wanted to tour South India, so I along with my family set out to Kerala in Dec’10. I had heard a lot about its popular tourist destinations. We planned a trip to Trivandrum. We reached Trivandrum in the morning and proceeded to a home stay called “Second Home 4 U”. I was really amazed to see the scenic views.
We proceeded for Sight Seeing the very next day. I would appreciate the cleanliness of the place.
Being from North India, I found the place very hygienic. We visited the very popular, Kovalam Beach.
Trust me readers, a place like kovalam is ideal for a vacation. Do visit it if you come to Kerela. After spending some quality time, we proceeded to Attukal Temple. I enjoyed watching the carvings, which were really unique. These are the small little things which make India worth visiting and entirely different from rest of the world. We continued our journey and visited Padmabhaswamy Temple.
Readers, this is the temple which has net worth more than Rs 1,00,000 Crores…Imagine!!!! Somewhere, I feel proud to visit India’s richest temple. :P
Talking about the temple, it’s really huge….in fact massive. You are only allowed to go inside if you wear a dhoti (for men) and a saree (for women). South Indians have really strict regulations and they adhere to them. The so-called Pandits inside the temple just fool around and charge money for a quick round of the place. You need at least an hour to properly observe and get to know the temple.
Next, we moved to Napier Museum, Srichitra Art gallery and Zoo. These all places were in the same ground.
Though the museum was not that good, but it had enough stuff to get an idea about Kerala’s rich diversity and traditions. Srichitra Art gallery was closed due to renovations. So,we proceeded towards the Zoo and Trivandrum’s Zoo was one of the best ones I’ve ever seen. The authority has maintained it really well. I could find all species of animals there. Also, I’d never ever seen a Tiger and a leopard so close (just 3-4 mtrs from the cage).
A hectic Day was over and we returned to our Homestay. Next,we visited Kanyakumari, which I’ll be writing in my next part. Hope you all enjoyed reading a small part of my travelogue. :)
