Post Monsoon Drive to DHANAULTI – Part- III – Dehradun – Haridwar – Delhi

Today we had a plan to visit Sahastra Dhara. But my cousin told that the place is now a very dirty picnic spot. So we had to cancel the plan. Earlier, it was such a beautiful spot with clean water but now it has turned into a messy picnic spot. Sometimes, I really feel disheartened that why do people make such natural spots ugly. So that day, we just remained at my relatives place and took some rest.

DAY-4–>2nd Oct’11 – DEHRADUN – HARIDWAR – DELHI – 260 Kms
Finally, the last day of the trip had come. We made the plan that first we would go to Har Ki Pauri and then we would proceed to our relatives place. We started at 7:30 am from Dehradun. We were in our silver queen and my brother’s family also accompnied us and they were in their own car. Dehardun to Haridwar on NH-72 was a regular smooth drive and NH-72 is very good.

DAY-3–> 1st Oct’11

NH-58

Approaching Har Ki Pauri

By 9am we were in Haridwar. Parked the cars in the Parking and proceeded to Har Ki Pauri. Did the darshan of Ganga Maiyya and spent some time there. Har Ki Pauri was as usual overcrowded with people and not clean as always.

The Holy Dip of the Devotees

After visiting Haridwar, we went to our relatives place at Jwalapur. It is around 15 minutes journey from Haridwar. Basically these are just the adjacent places. Reached there at 11am. Took some rest and after the lunch finally we started the return journey to Delhi, while my brother started their return journey to Dehradun.

We started at 1:30 pm from Haridwar/Jwalapur. Road was very good till Roorkee. From Haridwar, Delhi is about 200 Kms.

Exiting Haridwar

Roorkee to Muzaffarnagar on NH-58 was Ok. Again the Muzaffarnagar Bypass – Khatauli Bypass – Meerut Bypass was excellent and it was the same old mundane ride. By 4 pm we crossed Meerut Bypass.

Approaching Meerut Bypass

After Meerut till Ghaziabad the road was totally devastated at most places specially at Modinagar and Muradnagar (Though now the stretch is totally fine). After crossing the stretch, at Ghaziabad again there was a traffic jam at Hindon Bridge which is quite regular. We were stuck there for 1 hour.

Entering Delhi

Finally we reached our place at 7pm in the evening due to the traffic jam.
