Recently,I came to know about ‘ghumakkar’ through a close friend of mine ‘mala’ and thought of posting my reviews about ‘the misty mountains -resort’ at a himalayan village
-Jhaltola,Gangolihat,Distt Pihoragarh,UTTARAKHAND.
Although I am posting my review after ‘mala’ posted and whom I recommended this place but I guess still it will be useful for the readers as I’ll add on some technical details to it. Let me tell you in the very begining that this posting is useful only for people who like:peaceful atmosphere, mountains, forests, wildlife, himalayan peaks, sunrise, sunset,clouds,trekking,rock-climbing, photography, caves, gazing stars,bon-fire.
A complete package for my type of person who enjoys deep silience and wants to be one with nature in a 5 acre resort which is a part of 1000 acre estate (thick jungle).
Some useful Suggestions:
If travelling by car/bike:
• If you are leaving in your car make sure to start as early as possible (5 am) to be able to reach Nainital by lunch time.
• In winters ,don’t drive at night as driving can be fatal in thick fog
• It is recommended to have at least 2 drivers in the car
• Delhi (NH 24)-Gaziabad (NH 24)-Pilkhua (NH 24) -Hapur(NH 24)-Garhmukteshwar(NH 24)-Gujraula (NH 24)-Moradabad (NH 24)-Rampur –Bazpur-Kaladhungi-Nainital
• Route from Rampur to Rudrapur (Udham Singh Nagar) is pathetic and avoid talking it
• Google link for route-map
By train:
• I suggest to make an overnight journey by train -Ranikhet express (departs delhi around 10:30 pm) and arrives kathgodam at 6 am early morning. This ways the journey will be comfortable and you’ll utilize one night and sleep well before reaching the foothills. Same applies for the journey back to delhi from kathgodam.
• Books your tickets well in advance or else pay extra for the ‘tatkal’ 5 days before departure
• One can easily book a car,SUV etc from Kathgodam drive for 5-6 hrs and reach before lunch time to the resort
• restaurant recommended ‘THE HILL VIEW ‘ at Dhaulachina en-route to ‘the misty mountains’ Jhaltola
