What is this site all about.
Remember the last time, you wanted to go out and was frantically looking for some one who had been there. Someone whom you can trust to give you those inside stories and not just pain data. Well, this is the place to get all that information. Thats the drawing part. The bigger part is the sharing one where you share your travel experience (how was the drive, how was the place, what you did, tips, whatever) with fellow ghumakkars. Its not a *review* site, its a *travel experience* site. Its growing slowly to be a very rich community and have folks who have traveled world, so get associated and make it even more richer.
1. I want to write here, what do I need to do ?
Look at the left column, and you would see a ‘Register’ button. Click that and you would get the simplest registration form in the world, you need to enter an e-mail address and a pwd. Now, using the login widget in the left column, login and confirm that you can login. You would notice that there is a ‘Write’ button. Click that and you should see a notepad kind of thing. Start writing. Once done, publish. If its your first story then mark it as ‘Pending Review’ and someone in our editorial team would promptly review it and publish. We do this bureaucracy for the first story since the story goes on top of home page and we don’t want to mess that.
2. I registered and I can write but how do I put my story on-line?
Since your story would be displayed at the top of the first page, we do not give you the rights to make your story online. This is done to ensure there is no accidental publishing. After your first story, you would be able to do it all by yourselves. So survive the first one and then its all yours.
3. I lost my pasword. What do I do now?
Click at ‘Lost pwd’ on the left column. It would ask you to enter username and e-mail address. Do that. Now you would get a link on that e-mail. Once that link is clicked, you are sent another mail with the pwd. Now use this pwd to login.
4. How do I upload photos at ghumakkar and insert them in my stories ?
Upload them at ghumakkar (look at that ‘Add Media’ button right below the writing area). Choose one of the sizes, typically ‘Large’ looks better.
5. When I write in MS-Word or some other place and copy it from there to ghumakkar, the formatting gets funny ?
When we copy text from some other external application, it comes as a HTML. Depending upon where we are copying from it could range from a really complex or rich HTML code (from MS Word) to plain text (Notepad). We would suggest that either you directly write at this place or if you need to copy then paste the copied text first to simple text editor like Windows Notepad and then copy it from Notepad and paste at Ghumakkar. Once you get the text then use this editor to do Bold or for other things.
