4th January 2011 :- It was a very sad time for me as I was leaving Somnath , but at the same time I was happy that i was going to meet Lord Dwarkadhish in Dwarka . Now let me discuss travel. Jay Somnath………..

Travel :- Dwarka is around 230 kms from Somnath by road NH8E. There is no other means of transport apart from road and there is one way to go there. The whole road is besides sea and you will rejoice travelling by this road NH8E . Between Somnath and Dwarka comes Porbander city around 130 kms from Somnath, the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi.Jay Somnath…………………

The whole road is fantastic apart from few streches. The whole journey will be airy besides sea , wind moves and you will find lot of windmills from Suzlon energy. There may be many means to go from Somnath to Dwarka , but as far as I know. You can go by a ) Luxury bus b) Gujarat State Transport c) private cars.Jay Somnath…………….

3rd January 2012, Tuesday.  :- Hi folks and fellow ghumakkars welcome once again on my Trip to Lord Somnath . Today I will cover places to visit in Somnath. It is said that Prabhas Khestra is the place of union between Lord Krishna ( Vishnu ) and Lord Shiva……Jay Somnath……..

SOMNATH , PRABHAS KSHETRA :- In Skanda Purana, there is a whole Khand describing importance of Prabhas Kshetra and Somnath Shivalinga. In that part Lord Shiva describes that Prabhas Kshetra was one of the supreme centres of pilgrimage and capable of liberating all types of sins. Lord Shiva has manifested himself in form of linga called Somnath. The whole world is originated from it and merges into it at time of deluge. Skanda purana also mentions that there are around 5 crore Shivalingas submerged in ocean around Prabhas kshetra.Jay Somnath………

3rd January 2012, Tuesday.  :-  I woke up early in the morning at 4.50 am to have a bath , because i wanted to have darshan of Shree Somnath early in the morning and wanted to see its massive abhishekh with panchamrut. After getting fresh and having bath, I along with my mother in law quickly rushed to Shree Somnath Temple. We reached on the gates at 5.45 am , gates still closed. When the gates opened at 6.00 am I rushed inside the temple to catch a place where i could see the abhishekh with straight view with no one in between and by god’s grace i found one.Jay Somnath………

2nd January 2012 :- I will always remember Ist January 2012 that I had climbed 9999 steps Of Great Girnar Mountain, Junagadh, for having Lord Datta and Maa Amba darshan. Also i will remember the pain that I had for next  7 – 8 days . Next morning was no good - Jay Somnath……

Our next destination was The Great Adi Jyotirlinga – SHREE SOMNATH at Prabhas Patan near Veraval Gujarat ……………….

My enthusiasm reach the height that  had no bounds when I started feeling I am going to visit My Ishta Deva and that to in my native Saurashtra. Jay Somnath………………………

I will try to give you as much information on this Great Shivlinga from my Knowledge gathered from hearing, reading and visiting ,Shastras and Kathas, History and Internet Jay Somnath………………..

Travel :- First of all, on 2nd January we had two options from Junagadh to Somnath .Buses from Gujarat State transport or private vehicles which are frequent or by Train . But as always my prefence is to go my train.We caught Porbander – Veraval passenger Which comes to Junagadh at 9.00 oclock and reaches Veraval at 11.00 oclock.The Train as usual was late by one hour and came at 10.00 and we reached veraval around 11.45 am.From Veraval we took auto ( 100 rs) who took us to Shree Somnath Trust Dharamshala, around 5kms from Veraval station.We reached our room at around 12.45.Jay Somnath……………………..

With the ardent desire to accomplish the darshanam of Dwadash Jyotirlingas, detailed as appended :
1. Grishneshwar Temple Jyotirlinga located at a village called Verul, which lies 20 km from Daulatabad (near Aurangabad in Maharashtra) and approximately 100 kms from Manmad station.
2. Somnath Temple Jyotirlinga is situated at Somnath Patan (the south coast of Saurashtra), near Veraval in (Prabhas Kshetra) Kathaiwad district in Gujarat. Somnath is considered to be the first of the Dwaadash Jyotirlingas of Shiva.
3. Mallikarjun Temple Jyotirlingam is situated on Shri Shaila Mountain by the banks of the Patal Ganga, Krishna River in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh.
4. Mahakaleshwara Temple Jyotirlinga is located by the banks of river Kshipra, in the dense Mahakal forests in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh
5. Omkareshwar Temple Jyotirlinga is situated on the mountain Mandhata by the banks of Narmada River in the Malva area in Madhya Pradesh.
6. Baidyanath Temple Jyotirlinga, also called Vaijnath Temple and Vaidyanth Temple is located at Deogarh in the Santal Parganas region of Bihar in the south west of Keeul Station
7. Bhimashankar Temple Jyotirlinga is situated in the ghat region of the Sahyadri hills in the village of Bhavagiri, 50-km north west of Khed, near Pune in Maharashtra
8. Rameshwaram Temple Jyotirlingam is situated in the island of Rameswaram, off the Sethu coast of Tamil Nadu and is reached via the Pamban Bridge across the sea
9. Nageshwar Temple Jyotirlinga or Nagnath Temple is located on the route between Gomti Dwarka and the Bait Dwarka Island on the coast of Saurashtra in Gujarat.
10. Kaashi Vishwanath Temple Jyotirlinga is located amidst the crowded lanes in the holy city of Varanasi also known as Kashi and Benares.
11. Shri Trimbakeshwar Temple Jyotirlinga is located at a distance of about 30-km from Nasik in Maharashtra near the mountain named Brahmagiri from which the river Godavari flows.
12. Kedarnath Temple Jyotirlinga : One of the holiest pilgrimages for the Hindus, Kedarnath Temple Jyotirlinga is located in the picturesque surroundings of Rudra Himalaya Range at a height of 12000 feet on a mountain named Kedar,
