NEW YEAR 2012 AT PALOLEM BEACH (GOA)

July 11, 2012 By:

After coming back to Bangalore at the end of December, I planned to go Goa for the New Year with my friends. I was very excited for this trip due to couple of reasons firstly I am going to see beach and sea for the first time in my life and second reason was very personal.
We started our journey on 29 Dec from my friend’s house. During late night most of us fall asleep. When I wake up it was early morning of the next day. We stop at a hotel for the tea and after drinking tea we took our seats and started our journey again.  Morning was very beautiful and cold. The road was surrounded by beautiful hills which were covered by trees and plants.

Before Goa border there is a beach in Karnataka called Karwar Beach. We all come down from our cab and headed towards the beach. As soon as I entered the gate of Karwar Beach, I saw the sea first time in my life. Far away in the horizon it looks like sea and sky are merging together. We stay on the beach for half an hour. But sad part was that we did not enter in the water due to lack of time. After taking some photos on the beach we started our journey for Goa.

Beautiful & Peaceful Karwar Beach

After half an hour we entered the Goa border. On the border of Goa again we had to come down because driver needs to do some legal formalities and he has to pay tax for entering the Goa. In the meantime we went to tea stall which was situated on the road side.We were going to Palolem Beach, which is the first beach of Goa from Karnataka. So within 45 minutes we reach to our destination. We went to the place where our shacks were booked. We had to wait for half an hour at the restaurant of the hotel before checking in. Our shacks were just 100 feet away from the beach and these huts are called Coco Huts or Shacks because these huts are made with the help of Coconut trees stem. The huts were really very beautiful.

Coco Shacks

After some time I go to the beach with my friends. The Palolem Beach is very beautiful; one can see foreigners in bikinis everywhere. After half an hour I went into the water and spent an hour in the sea. After coming out of water I had my lunch at the restaurant where we were staying. In the afternoon we went to the market of Palolem Beach. While roaming in the market we purchased beer from the road side restaurant. Beers are very cheap in Goa and the best thing is that you can drink it even on the roads and streets. One good thing about Goa is that you don’t need to wear full clothes. During my stay in Goa I had never put on my shirt. I think that’s the spirit of Goa.

In the evening we were roaming in the streets. Than after packing Chicken from the one of the nearby restaurant, we went to the beach. We started drinking Beer on the beach in the light of moon. It was really unforgettable experience of eating and drinking on the shore of Ocean. The sound of water waves was making the whole experience memorable. After having lots of beer on the beach, we went for the dinner. I had not eaten dinner that night because my little stomach was already fill by the Beers and Chicken.

Beautiful Palolem Beach

On 31st morning we wake late in the morning and I went to beach side restaurant for breakfast with some of friends. I had spent more than an hour in the restaurant with my friend, we were just watching the people on the beach. After having breakfast we went back to our huts.

In the afternoon I again went into the water with one of my friend. We had spent more than 2 hours in the water.  In the evening we went for seeing Dolphins in a boat. That boat person told us that we are going to see the Dolphins, but unfortunately we had not seen a single Dolphin. But our voyage was definitely one of the most memorable parts of my Goa trip. The boat person took us far in the sea and it was amazing experience of seeing sunset from the middle of the ocean. He took us to a small beach or I can say Island, which was not as much crowdie as Palolem Beach. We stayed on that beach for more than half an hour. As night was about to spend its darkness on the water, we started for our beach. Palolem Beach was looking very beautiful in the lights and it was treat for the eyes to see a such a nice view of the shore from the middle of the ocean.

Boat Ride to Dolphin Island

Palolem Beach was fully decorated with the twinkling lights and it was ready for welcoming the New Year with the spirit of Goa. We went for the dinner at 11 pm on the eve of New Year, in a restaurant which is situated in the market. Unfortunately all the eating stuff was on the edge of finishing. I had tasted different type of sea food in Goa, but I don’t like it, may be due lack of taste for sea food. One thing I like is Prawn fish except that whatever I had tasted, I not like them much.

Twinkling Palolem Beach on the Eve of New Year

As soon as two arms of clock meet, whole beach was come to live with the sounds of fire crackers and the noises of people. The sky started glooming with the different colours of fire crackers. After half an hour we went for the dance party at a resort named “Laughing Buddha”. The party was not much crowdie and some people were busy in dancing while some were in boozing. Most of the people were foreigners and as the time was passing, more and more people started dancing. After some time most of the my friends leave for their shacks, but me and one of my friend stayed their till 4:30 am. In the late night, party become hornier, with the horny dance of some of the foreign chicks. We were just enjoying the party with rocking music. At last we left the party because most the people left for their rooms and only few people were left in the party and that too were guys.

Hard Good Bye to Palolem Beach

Finally it’s time to say good bye to Goa on 1st January. I wanted to stay there for some more days but it is said that good time never last for long. In the morning, I went into the sea for the last time. Before leaving the beach, we played volleyball first in the water and then on the beach. Finally we left the Palolem Beach with some of the unforgettable memories of this place. I will definitely going to visit Goa again in future; it is such a beautiful place, that a person once visited it, will definitely want to come again.
