Day 4 –Udaipur Journey completed (and back to boredom)

The checkout time in hotel was 11. So I asked them to take care of my bag and before starting to Fateh Sagar Lake I called Jai Prakash, the guy I met at the first day of my journey and to my luck he was there in Udaipur and readily agreed to accompany me to Fateh Sagar Lake and Nehru Garden.

My train Chetak Express was at 5 so I had 6 hour in hand and that was well used at Fateh Sagar Lake. Like lake palace, Nehru garden is also in the midst of a lake known as Fateh Sagar. There is a ferry ride that costs 30 Rs per head for to and fro journey. It is the second artificial lake of Udaipur.

The garden comprises a boat-shaped restaurant and the wetland is perfect for avian population.

Although I am not sure that whether they were resident or migratory but I managed to click few of them.

This breed is called love bird, usually resident, found everywhere in monsoon

This lake is encircled by hills from three sides and present stunning views of the Aravalli Hills.

Finally it was time to say bid adieu to my friend Jai Prakash and to this beautiful place which completely rejuvenate my mind and soul.

My friend Jai Prakash

    Hi Amit,

The post on Mount Abu/Udaipur was quite interesting. This pole business – we also found in Bikaner.
Romancing the Romantic was quite informative, thanks for that.

I also heard that this particular specie of bird(s) is very brave and it is NOT a good shagun to shoot and post their pictures on public forums. Though in your case, you have done it discreetly.

To see more of these by another investigative-journo, Nisha, look at the below post.

Great series Amit and congratulations for being the ‘Featured Author’ of September 2011. A trip is due. :-)

Thanks a lot Nandan. I have gone through the Nisha’s link, and that was certainly more brave attempt than mine. Finally thanks to Ghumakkar for this honor :-)
