A Visual tour to the ‘World’s tallest brick Minaret’…..Qutub Minar

It was 11.00 a.m on a cool Sunday morning and i was trying not to get out of the bed on the only off day i had during the week. Soon, Adhiraaj woke up and we resumed our ‘What to do’ discussion from the previous night. It was almost a year and a half for both of us, living in Noida and apart from visiting Chandani Chowk ( Prantha Wali Gali), we didn’t go to any other place. So we decided on visiting Qutub Minar later that day and Humayun Tomb, Lotus Temple on the next weekend.

Qutub Complex

I logged on to the Internet and had a quick read about the history of Qutub Minar and the looked for the easiest way to reach and well, Metro has no competitor in that department. I took out my new camera for its 1st outdoor shoot and we boarded Metro from the Noida Sec 15 station. Sunday afternoon and like any other day it was crowded. We changed Metro at Rajiv Chowk to the one going to Huda City Center, Gurgaon and after about 45 mins got off on the Qutub Minar Metro Station.

As seen from Qutub Minar Metro Station

Qutub Minar is the world’s tallest brick minaret at 237 feet (approx) with the construction that began in the year 1199 by Qutbu’d-Din Aibak and was finished by his son-in-law Shamsu’d-Din Iltutmish (AD 1211-36).

    Aditya,
Very good post and beautiful pictures. Looking the pictures of the complex it seems that complex is ruining very fast. Government should take some action to preserve such important monuments.

    Thanks.

@ Mukesh – Its maintained pretty well. The ruins which you see have been there for a lot many years. Its not getting worse.

  7. You have captured Qutub Minar from all angles. Although living in Delhi since many years I could not get a chance to visit the place, but now after seeing your snaps I have to visit soon.
