Dear Nandan,

I would like to inform one more thing which i forgot to mentioned in my write-up about the LIVING ROOT BRIDGES in Cherrapunjee.

Most of us go for a single day tour, (Shillong - Cherrapunjee - Shillong). we also did the same mistake.

They are exclusive only to Meghalaya and are not found anywhere else in the world.

These root bridges are so strong that some of them can carry 50 or more people at a time.

The bridges are of 2 type:-

Single & Double Decker

The nearest one is 2 km away down 1000 feet & its takes about 3-4 hours.

The Double Decker Root Bridge trek is 10 kms & It is a full day trek.

You need guides to go to these places.

The guide charge is Rs.200/- for the trek to Living Root Bridge and Rs.500/- for the Double Decker Root Bridge trek.

Your logs are always methodically written, with all the information, pics, in the right order, a bookmark material and very very useful for a fellow Ghumakkar.

I never knew that Sohra is so close to Shillong and Bangladesh.

Did you go to border post ?
