Gurgaon-Lansdowne Weekend Road Trip

June 27, 2009 By: msupriyo Category: Hills, Hotel, Lansdowne, Roads, Uttarakhand, Weekend-Delhi

Me and two of my friends cum colleagues wanted to go for a small family week end trip with the objective of pure chilling out. I was always in favour of self driving rather than taking the pain of planning ahead and booking railway tickets.  Initially we were looking for places near to Shimla like Chail or Shogi. But the driving time was coming a bit too much and we were trying to avoid a hectic journey. While searching on the net I came across the Ghumakkar family and was instantly impressed by the quality of the travelogues posted here. Also I found the place called Lansdowne. I never realized this is the closest hill station to Delhi/NCR. I did some quick reading and decided to give it a try. My friends agreed and just to make an initial check we called up Fairydale resort and found out that only three 4 beds rooms were available. Personal and office work took priority and firming up the actual travel dates got delayed. Finally we decided on 19th June and called up Fairydale again but we were told that all the rooms were sold out. A quick discussion took place and frantic calls were place to Oak Grove Inn and Anand Retreat. We got prompt reply from Col Rawat of Oak Grove Inn but Anand Reterat was a bit reluctant. So we put our faith on Col. Rawat and booked for three families.

A Trip to Port Blair

June 25, 2009 By: tanya Category: Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Beach

I was out with the thought of getting on one of those short and lazy holidays. But beaches have something enigmatic about them. They mesmerize me and that panorama inspires in me all the energy that the city depilates. It happened this time too… If u have liked Kerala you’ll love Port Blair….This place is the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar
Islands, a union territory of India. As soon as you step on the Veer Sarvarkar Airport you can feel the freshness in the air. The city greets you with its pure and invigorating air. Even the sun light felt so fresh.

Bheemeswari – More than a Fishing Camp

June 25, 2009 By: Vivek Verma Category: Jungle, Karnataka, Weekend-Bengaluru

It’s again a New Year eve and we all wanted to celebrate it in its own way however we (I and few friends) decided to do something new and celebrate it bit differently.

My friend Bharani suggested going to Bheemeswari fishing camp which means far from city noise and pollution, no telephone, no TV and music to disturb you. It’s just you with nature so that you can relax and enjoy every bit of natural environment.

Bharani was aware of the Jungle Lodges booking place at MG road so we went there and asked for tent however it was our bad luck that no tents were available for booking but we got 2 cottages and 2 log huts. We got 10% discount as our company was registered with them and was recognized as regular customer.

Bheemeshwari is a small town that lies between the Shivanasamudra falls and Mekedatu falls, on the Cauvery river in Mandya district of Karnataka. Bheemeshwari is located at a distance of 100 km from the tech city, Bangalore, down the Kanakpura – Kollegal Highway.
