Welcome Aboard.

What to say Ashima. I have seen Europe a lot and was feeling that very soon I should think of exploring Asia( I feel it may suit well to my pocket).
I started with wonderful description of Phuket and was wondering that why you decided to write about Bankok clubbing it with it, as the beautiful photos of the beaches got replaced by the concrete buildings.

Maldives is much more costlier than Thailand. I will like to explore more about Celine's suggestion on Chiang-Mai in Thailand. Do you feel that by strolling in night (May be to have a taste of Night life) you have exposed yourself more to the ugly part of Thai life. Or is it very visible in day time too.

I think you have exposed yourself to many queries from fellow ghumakkars, who have not yet been to Thailand and are planning for the same. Though being a strict vegeterian I will also like to know that how easy it would be there to survive with the kids ( I know I have high survival capabilities, than my family, keeping my vegeterian tag intact).

That was a good description of bangkok. When went there six years back , that is the premall days in delhi ,the MBK mall was really fascinating and we went berserk shopping for all our friends. but the food court smell was really a put off. The obvious sleaze in bangkok makes one feel pity for the players in the background. The pataya beach and coral island is also good to visit.
