Nice to see that DM has maintained its high standards since it started on 25th Dec 2002. I was there on the first day at Shahdara station and rode on the second service of its existence. The systems were all jittery at that time. After that also traveled 2-3 times whenever I was in Delhi. I was involved in forming a Delhi Metro Fan Club at that time by meeting the CPRO Mr. Anuj Dayal but we did not go far. During that time we went to DM office, tunnel construction site, stabling yard in Shastri Park etc. I will make to sure to travel on it again whenever I am in Delhi next.

Good one. I also traveled from Shahdra to Rohini and the ride was very smooth. My kids loved that.

On cleanliness, if you notice, you will not find any Restroom inside the METRO station, they are located outside the station.

I think this is not just comparable to the transit system in other countries, but it is the best. I remember transits system in Toronto, they didn't have provision for handicaps to move from one platform to another (though I was having a 6 month kid with a stroller :))

One thing needs to improve is: Park & Ride. Main shahdra station does not have enough space now for park & ride. But I think as soon as those Metro Malls will start coming up, parking problem will be taken care off.

@Nandan:
I know many Delhites who till now have not been able to experience the metro. So, DM is a must for everybody, why only non-delhites? :)
Oh, I wasn't aware of MRTS & Metro. Thanks.

@Manu:
I am a Delhite myself, have seen umpteen no. of times when bus conductors/drivers verbally abuse old & young alike so it definitely can not get over my head. But yes, it did feel good when they spoke with courtesy and I thought it should get a mention. :)

@Manish:
Just now replied to Nandan that there are many Delihites who haven't taken a ride in Metro. :)
Yes, Dr Sreedharan did a commendable job and showed the world that the things can be done without involving politics. I could have written about him but it wouldn't have come on this blog. He deserves an independent post. If I get time I'll try to write about him on my personal blog.

Thanks for your visit. Keep coming. :)
