My trip to Garh Mukteshwar |
Hi, I am Shubham Sarcar. I am a student of Delhi Public School. I study in Class IV. I will tell you about my trip to Garhmukteshwar. This was my first trip without my parents and I was very excited. We had to reach school by six-thirty in the morning. I have never reached school so early. There were three teachers handling forty-five of us!
Getting there
| The trip was four hours by bus. I sat with my friend Sohum. The time passed chatting and watching the scenery. When the first stop came, I was so glad that we will get down and stretch ourselves and run around. But only the teachers got down for cofee. We were given packed sandwiches and frooti to have in the bus. |  |
Unchagaon

Finally, we had arrived at Unchagaon. We stopped in front of a stable. For a moment I thought this was where we were going to stay. Thankfully they took us to neat and clean rooms. The rooms were quite big. We stayed in room no 16. My roomies were some boys from my section. In that room the bathroom door was of frosted glass. You could see through the door! The bed was so high they could have given us a ladder to climb it. In the night we would go to the girls room and scare them. We would knock, make scary sounds and then run away. We’d keep our lights off so that the teacher wouldn’t discover us.Two or three times teacher would come and check if we had slept. When they would come, then we would run and get into our beds, swith off the lights and pretend to be asleep. Sometimes we’d fall in the process. |
In Unchagaon, there was a big garden in which there were lots of lounge chairs. Sitting on them was real fun. I wish I had one of these in our balcony back home. There was small shed in which there were balls, bats, rackets etc. We were very careful with the equipment, because if we broke anything we’d have to pay for it. Sehej is going to pay for a bat. There were two terraces. From one we could see a beautiful lake. On the other side we could see a village.
There was an animal petting zone which had goats, fishes, horses, dogs, hens and ducks. We clicked pictures of these animals as if we hadn’t seen them before.
Activities
We had games like Tug-0f-war, which was simple. But the other was so good, you could get bruised. How cool is that! That game was ‘Breaking the matka’. We had to climb on each other, catch hold of the matka hanging from a tree and throw it on the ground to break it. Another version of this game was in an obstacle course. You had a bat in the hand to smash the hanging matka. To make it interesting, the one who had to break the matka was blind folded and his friends were directing him through the obstacle course.
We also got to ride a tractor and a bullock cart. We would go up one feet in the air on every pebble. Some potters were invited to the resort so that we could do pottery. It was good to get your hands in the clay and create something. We also had a visit to a ‘Gur’ Factory.
I dont know where two days went. All too soon it was time to board the ‘bus’ and head back to Delhi.
My Baba was waiting for me at the school. It was his B’day that day.

I must have read this many times already, I really liked things like……….” they could have given us a ladder…..”., or the room no (how many of us really care to remember the room no), the sense of humour is amazing.
If there are more Shubhams around then I guess this country is going to do wonders.

I read ur amazing description of our recent trip to unchagaon fort and each word u wrote took me back to cherish the amazing trip we all went to. as i read through , all the scenes moved before me like a movie .thanks for putting my photograph and hope that we will all be together for another trip soon !

i read your article on our trip to Garh Mukteshwar and liked it a lot. The first photograph was ok (with me in it) but the second one was just amazing (nice shot buddy). Our stay in room no 16 was just too adventurous. I agree with your idea of the ladder for the bed. I wish we can be in the same room for every trip we go for. ………………………akshay

I was feeling a bit low so thought that I would go and read something. I decided to re-read this and it was so much fun again. Its difficult to believe that somehow that ‘lounge chair’ thing got skipped in the all the earlier reads which I have done.
