Oh, indeed it was a time when Udaipur had lot of rains. Fateh Sagar was brimming.

Pihu was about 4 months old so we sort of played safe and didn't venture too much and decided to give Kumbhalgarh a miss, something for second time as well :)

And yes, Udaivilas is on the list very much. But I would still want to buy Lake Palace first :)

Nandan,

It seems you have been there when there was not much water in the lakes. Udaipur is a place to visit when there is water in the lakes. Then you can feel the beats of this city. Roaming in the old city brings you the aura of old charm.

I think one "MUST visit" place is Bagore ki Haveli at Ganghore Ghat at the banks of Pichola. There are some cultural programmes also in the night.

Then, I think around Udaipur you can visit "Eklingji". Eklingji has special place in the history of Udaipur and the devotion is in the air. Ranakpur (Only Dilwara temples are better than these Jain temples), although these temples have better location. Kumbhalgarh, this is another massive fort with fantastic views reaching out to Malwa regions which can be included in the itinerary.

If you want to stay in calm and serene waters better stay in Jaisamand resort (around 50 Kms from Udaipur).

Some trivia: Udaivilas hotel (Oberoi Group) in UDR is judged number one hotel in world this year. Why you want to dream of Lake Palace ? Lets dream BIGGER hahahahahah ;)
